Anybody done this or seen this on a truck. My skills are limited at body work but this doesn't look too bad and it might turn out pretty good. The site that I got pics from hasn't been updated in some time and they don't show it painted. Also it looks like they weled in some filler slices and then maybe bondoed over? What do y'all think?

Either that or they completly filled it with "bondo"

Hey, if you like it, go for it. Like you said short strips of metal tack welded one at a time until you have it all filled and then "bondoed" over (I suggest Evercoats "Everglass") would be a pretty easy custom project to get your feet wet. :)

Thanks for the tips, the only thing I thought that would be tricky is grinding the welds down in the rail since its such a small space, and close to the body.

What you would do is make these pieces of metal so that they just barely reach the edge of the tip of the gutter. Then on the other side at the roof skin they would butt up against it. There would be little grinding because the welds would be in a corner that will be covered with plastic filler.

The welds up near the tip of the gutter would be easy to grind because they would be right up on the edge.
