Epoxy with a metal prep or an etching type primer should be used first then a good primer surfacer should follow within the paint manufacturers time requirements. I'd make sure you have a competant blaster if you are using sand. Sand can warp sheetmetal so fast it'd scare ya. Mediums like soda or plastic are far more sheetmetal friendly. 1972C10 07-27-2004, 06:59 PM You might look into dupont Urethane 2K its some pretty good primer its about 80 dollars to get a gallon and the activator if you want cheap gray primer that will weather up and rust off you can get spray can wich really sucks or lacquer Primer by the gallon its about 25 dollars a gallon then you have to reduce it 50% 50% the thinner is around 9 a gallon If your lookin for the cheapest way out thats it but it dont hold up well out in the weather IMo. Randy70C-10 07-27-2004, 10:51 PM Rattle can primer is great for bicycles, but it will ruin your cab. Use a metal etching primer or epoxy/urethane primer and do it right. :metal: pat 07-29-2004, 10:29 AM Thanks guys. Im gonna scratch my plans for sandblasting, I didnt realize it would cost about $250. But Im still going to do body work and such, so I still will need to get some primer. orange72 07-29-2004, 11:11 PM yea i would sandblast it then epoxy it..dont primer surface all the cab unless you wanna do a lot of sanding..i would only primer surface your repair spots... some people like to sand though to get that perfect body. |
