Ok tonight i was practicing up on my buffing and polishing on this fender.....and i did just half of it, and well the bottom under the body line looks good like i want it to.....and hte top still has a little bit of haze left to it......i think it would look good if i could get rid of that. i was thinking i either need a swirl remover or a good cleaner to clean it with like a detailers cloth or something to that effect. can someone help me on what to get it off with?all help appreciated.

thanks
kevin

Is this a clearcoat paint job? Sounds like you may have polished through the clear but I could be wrong. Swirl remover should get rid of it. (3M or Mcguirers)

did you wet sand it before you buffed it? what polish did you use?

yes. i wetsanded it and then i used some body magic stuff and it was pretty course stuff.... then i used a medium cut cleaner by meguiars then a polishing glaze by meguiars. so i wonder if i maybe sanded too course or too much and its not gonna come out good enough. the body magic said that it will remove 1000-1500 scratches and i used both of them but i did it pretty good with a 1000 so i dunno. its not really a big deal because its a test fender.

I normally start out 1500 grit then move up to 2000 grit. If you sand with finer cut grits you DONT need to worry about the polishing compound removing the scratches cause they ARE NOT THERE!!!

Mequiars has the best compounds out there hands down, 3M stuff the best place for it is at the bottom of the trash can.

Start with diamond cut 2.0 with a yellow foam pad. Then move to dual action cleaner on a black foam pad. Then finish up with a hand rubbing with speed glaze or glaze #7...Eric

what you see is still the sand scratches...you need to rebuff that area but a tad slower and build alittle bit more heat...dont be afraid to put more compound on also. just make sure you keep the buffer moving and dont hold on one place. imo mequiars does make greaty polishes but not agressive enough compounds to do the work. 3m is fine...hell they have been making compounds alot longer that mequiars has. 3m has a verse line that works.
