Well, I'm a decent welder, not a pro or anything like that. I can get it to hold pretty well, but it's a nasty weld. Anyway, in my search to find someone to install my new floors and cab corners, I cannot find anyone that will or wants to  So, how hard is it to try this myself? I'm pretty sure I know how hard and time taking it is, from some of the older posts I've been looking through. My pop is buddies with the local tech school body man, so maybe he or his students can do it for me, for free!!!! I realize that school is almost over and that's no big deal to me, because this is a long-term project and that will give me some time to work more on the frame, brakes and fuel supply. Any advice for me?

if you can weld your golden just take your time and dont warp the metal use a whole lot of tack welds and basically stitch it to together moving from area to area. the rockers and cab corners are easy to do. i did mine without ever welding b4 and they turned out pretty good. actually this was pretty much the first metal work i had done. the best thing i can tell ya do to do. is just order the parts and dig in otherwise you will keep hesitating

Think about how you tighten lugnuts, do one spot then go across. Repeat till finished. That's what I've been told to do.

Go and get ebfabmans videos. They pretty much show you how to do everything.

Welding is the easy part. It's the fitting, trimming and aligning that's hard. If it was only the welding you could do a whole cab in a weekend. To do it right it will ned to come apart and go together a lot of times.

I have been making repairs to my cab for the first time. I was worried about making the welds when I started in but soon realized that the welding is probably the easiest part of the job. If the fit and gaps are correct the welding is a piece of cake even for a novice. I think the average Joe can do a very good job if you don't get in a hurry. Properly fitting the panels can be time consuming don't get in a hurry with that part of the job and everything else will be a snap.

For me the most diffucult part of the job was trying to get the contours to match between the foward floor pan patch panel and the rear floor patch panel. You would think since both panels where made by the same company they would mate to each other but the radius in the bends are way off.

If you aren't certian exactly how to go about it, the ebfabman DVDs are an exellent tool and will give you the dirrection and confidence to tackle to job.

I'de say if you have the time, place and tools to do the job, Go For It!!

just make sure that you are wlding a clean surface and you have a good clean ground. If you mess it up o well just grind the weld down and do it again.
