View Full Version : Wisconsin Roll Call
dtlilly 03-22-2005, 12:56 PM Welcome to the new Midwest region board! Check in so we can keep in contact, talk trucks, trade parts, and generally have a good time.
I'm fairly new to Wisconsin. I first moved to Franklin (a southern suburb of Milwaukee, now I live in Ashwaubenon (a southern suburb of Green Bay). I work as a maintenance super for Oneida Bingo And Casino.

Where are you, and what do you do?
Brad_Olson 03-23-2005, 08:08 AM Hmmm...I guess I could qualify for 3 different state threads as I was born and raised near Rockford IL, went to school in Des Moines, lived & worked 4-1/2 years in the Chicago area, and have been in southern/south-central WI for the past 15.
Currently clogging my driveway/garage and irritating my wife are:
1977 C10 short stepside
- parts truck (350/TH350/3.40 12-bolt/not much else), for sale
1978 C10 long fleetside
- Big 10, trying to find time for an engine & transmission transplant
1986 K10 long fleetside
- bought cheap, trying to keep running, see my threads on the 73-87 board

72gord 03-23-2005, 04:02 PM Hi guys,
Located 35 miles sout east of LaCrosse. Have been interested in these trucks since I got my first one in 1981, which was a 72 Blazer. I have fixed, painted and scrapped a number of them over the years. I got away from them for about 10 years, but now my boys are both older and interested in trucks too, so I am back into it! My youngest son and I have been rebuilding a 68 K-20 over the last 14 months and are having a blast. We currently have 5 trucks setting here, 3 complete, 1 without a box, and one for parts. BTW I farm for a living...dairy and crop production, so I have a flexible schedule...to a point, with a little more free time in the winter than in the other months. Later, Gord
Timmyd 03-23-2005, 10:25 PM Hello,

schnitz 04-02-2005, 11:29 PM First, I'm new on this board, but have been a huge fan of all things Chevy. Second, I'm a Wisconsin-iter originally from the Seneca- Eastman area (southwest corner-Crawford county) and am now up in central Wi. I have 2 Chevy trucks, an '84 4X4 regular cab plowtruck, and a '97 2wd ex-cab. I'll post a pic or 2 in a day or two.
Later, Chet.
dtlilly 04-03-2005, 03:12 AM Welcome to the board Brad! This place is full of info for all years trucks!
We need to get a Wisconsin board meet set up for this summer.
schnitz 04-04-2005, 10:52 PM I'm a for a get together. Show season is just around the corner. How's about a get together at a show? The Mrs. and myself make probably 5-8 trips south to see my family in a years' time. I love packing on the miles...
72gord 04-05-2005, 08:24 AM dt....sounds like a plan, I'm up for a meet this summer, not sure I'll have the truck finished by then, but we can have a few and shoot the truck bull!!! Gord
P.S. Chet....I live not too far from where you grew up, I'm about 10 miles from Viroqua
schnitz 04-05-2005, 04:32 PM 72, I know that whole area pretty well. Did some of my finest speeding --err driving, yea that's it--on 27 (before they changed it). It used to be fun, now it's all about safety. Old age must be kicking in for me, though. I seldom, if ever, drive that crazy anymore. Ahh, the good old days. We'll be heading down for a quick round trip run on sunday. Bridal shower for a cousin's new bride. yippie. 6 hours and $60 in gas later.... Maybe we can get together on another trip down. PM me or post here if you're up for it.
dtlilly 04-05-2005, 10:04 PM Here are links to 2 cool car show and swap meets in the State. Maybe we could have a small board meet at one of these?

schnitz 04-06-2005, 12:10 AM I know that there's a couple more up in my neck of the woods, and one real late in the year in Necedah (I think--I'll check and see--Pumpkinfest) I'll check out the shows up here.
Wasted Income 04-06-2005, 01:20 PM What about Wisconsin Dells Automotion in May. It's the 20-22.
http://www.wisdells.com/events/automotion.cfm
It's a very cool show in a very cool city. I will be there for sure with my '69. I've got reservations at the Luna and a street view to watch the cruising :metal:
72gord 04-07-2005, 08:53 AM Chet...you get down this way with time to kill, we will have to get together and talk trucks!!! May I ask what year you graduated? Was it from Seneca?
Dt...Me and my sons are headed to Jefferson with a friend, just not sure which day. Later, Gord
dtlilly 04-07-2005, 10:46 AM Gord, If it doesn't snow... I'll be there on the 23rd of April. Anyone else?
schnitz 04-07-2005, 04:44 PM Chet...you get down this way with time to kill, we will have to get together and talk trucks!!! May I ask what year you graduated? Was it from Seneca?
Dt...Me and my sons are headed to Jefferson with a friend, just not sure which day. Later, Gord
Yup, Seneca, class of '93. Times change... Why are you asking (if you don't mind me asking LOL), did you wind up marrying a classmate of mine or something?? Big smile
I'm sure the wife will love to stop in, thanks for the offer. Heck, my '84 came from down by you too. Less than 3 miles from Seneca. She's pretty rough yet, and is far from perfect, but she's mine.
Tuttles 04-11-2005, 11:55 PM Where are all my people from the Fox Valley. Come on now there has got to be somebody. Come from Menasha and am going to college in Depere right now.
Not much time or money to do anything at the moment but hope to get into it more later in life. And I love my 89 Suburban, aint nothing better then cruising in a burb.
72gord 04-12-2005, 08:47 AM Chet...just wondering on when you graduated, I am an 82 grad from LaFarge. We seem to go to Seneca a lot for the kids games...know the area!
DT...still not sure which day we are going yet.....I'll let you know
Later,Gord
dtlilly 04-12-2005, 12:44 PM Hey Tuttles, Welcome to the board! I know of a member that lives in Neenah, but I haven't heard from him lately.
Gord, Hope to see ya there, actually all board members that plan on going (I think there might be some from Illinois are going). I'd like to set up an informal board meet Saturday.
schnitz 04-14-2005, 05:47 PM Chet...just wondering on when you graduated, I am an 82 grad from LaFarge. We seem to go to Seneca a lot for the kids games...know the area!
Later,Gord
Small world ain't it? We (the Mrs. and me) used to drive through your area reall often. We just don't make it that way too often now that my youngest sister is in La Crosse with her husband. It's all boring, straight roads until just south of Ferryville. I bore easily without the curves of a good country road. Now we'll have a reason to swing thru your way to talk trucks. Too cool, and thanks again for the invite.
chip46wis 04-18-2005, 08:30 AM Hello--Chippewa Falls here-graduate 1974-working on a 69 stepside from Arkansas-pretty clean and about 1/2 way through swapping to disk (front) from a 1985 1/2.also swapping to tilt.
shade67 04-22-2005, 06:55 PM I'm located 35 miles north of madison in Portage. I've been into the 67-72 chevys since I bought one in s. carolina in '86, I sold it in 92 when it was looking really good. I've been trying to make one I like as well as that one or is it 3 of them!?
I'm a National Guardsman that works as a Army-civilan employee during the week repairing and maintaining the trucks!
schnitz 05-02-2005, 10:56 PM Hopefully my pics will post here, so here is a try..
dtlilly 05-02-2005, 11:54 PM Wow! Cool looking old tractor, what is it?
schnitz 05-03-2005, 07:33 AM 1928 McCormick Deering 10-20. What a load that made for my little 6 banger!
Brad_Olson 05-03-2005, 12:25 PM I just bumped my '77 C10 parts truck to the top of the list in the 73-87 parts forum...any chance somebody here might be interested?

schnitz 05-03-2005, 05:47 PM Too dang rusty for me :( . Sucks that you can't save all the Chevys of the world. Besides, did you see my rust bucket? One more project and I'll wind up divorced....

Rakort 05-11-2005, 12:15 AM Hey yas,
Didn't realize the cheese heads have their own special place to hang out in.
I grew up in Jefferson for the most part and started my automotive career in the 4th grade about 1975 scraping the valve cover gaskets on the city's dump truck at my Dad's Chevrolet Dealership. Those bastard mechanics always gave me the **** jobs, but I did everyone of them.
Currently live in Neenah. Someone was asking where are all the board members from the Fox Valley...well one is right here. Then there is DT up by Green Bay of course.
By the way DT I like the idea of getting together in Jefferson and the fall swap meet.
Brian
dtlilly 05-11-2005, 10:03 AM Welcome Fl Rider! I have kin that live in Franklin (used to live in Waterford on the river). I get down that way every now and again, well have to hang out and talk trucks!
Rakort, Josh made us our own special board area. When he gets done with school this month, he plans on revamping the board so all the links for the new boards will work. I'm sorry I didn't call you last weekend, I have an X that is in Memphis that needed special attention (don't they all).
Brad_Olson 05-17-2005, 10:12 AM Too dang rusty for me :( . Sucks that you can't save all the Chevys of the world. Besides, did you see my rust bucket? One more project and I'll wind up divorced....Finally found a buyer for it. He wants the 350 for a Jag conversion but that's pretty much it; I hate to see the 12-bolt 3.40 go to a yard but I'm hoping it won't be scrapped. Right now I'm stripping anything useable off it before he comes and picks it up in a few days.
One less truck in the driveway makes the wife that much happier! :)
Brad
HeavyK20 05-21-2005, 11:36 AM Originally from Loyal, WI now living in New Richmond.
Truck get together this summer sounds good to me.
schnitz 05-22-2005, 10:09 PM I just got back to home not too long ago. Been on the road to my folks farm in Seneca. Long weekend of driving. The truck seems to be getting used to the trip. And the ceremonial burnouts.... :metal: Unfortunately, my youngest brother couldn't operate my camera. Lots of smoke from Tiger Paws. I'm getting BFG's before the end of summer, so I need to smoke 'em off.
Anyway, a truck get-together sounds really cool. We should be able to make it.
Below are the pics of the after effects of the brakestand... God, I love an automatic
Doesn't look like anyone has posted here for awhile!
I am up here in the Green Bay area.
If anyone see's a 1970 yellow 4x4 Blazer with a fat bald guy driving, it's me!

Ironhorse 01-06-2008, 03:14 PM Just playing on the board this evening and seen the Wisconsin Roll Call thread so decided to scroll thru just to see if anyone was from my home town. I was born in Rice Lake about 102 years ago (maybe not quite that long ) More like about 58 years ago. Moved from there when I was 6. Been up to visit several times, still have a couple nephews living in Rice Lake. Sure do miss the country up there. Kansas is pretty much flat, windy, to open, did I mention flat? Menomonie, Spooner, Barron, Rice Lake, Eau Claire, Hayward, Chetek, know exactly where they are. :chevy:
Anybody from Merrill/Wausau area??? My best friend lives there, but he did use to live in Rhinelander.
