Winfield, KS, future home of an actual Liquor Store! The church ladies have been defeated!

LOL kingsolver72! The county was wet, just Winfield was dry. We have clubs and bars, etc., but you had to drive somewhere if you wanted to buy a bottle, generally 12 miles to Ark City. I graduated from Southwestern College (state university as you call it), so I gotta stick up for them, even though the College has historically sided with the church ladies to keep liquor stores out of town. And of course you already know Southwestern exists to hand out lessons on the athletic fields, LOL!
Finally enough people decided to fight the idiocy of sending all the dollars out of town, as well as being known as a little on the backward side, so we petitioned and got it on the ballot last Tuesday, and it passed easily (63% Yes vote).
The Bluegrass festival is the 3rd week in September, and is one of the best in the country, and there is a Country Music festival called the Winfield Country Roundup the first weekend in June, that is going to be set up much the same. They have already signed a bunch of groups to play, and it looks like it will be very good and a lot of fun also.

I reside in Wichita. Whenever I have the spare time, I go to Backyard Burger on Friday nights and Spangles on Saturday nights. Both places have some nice turn outs for being the "weekend hangouts".

Kiowa, Ks Hey barn I thought they had a big thing in Winfield about if they got a liquor store they would get rid of that park? I use to live in Burden ks. :drama:

Never heard of anything like that Wolfpack. What park are you referring to? Nothing would ever happen to Island Park or any other around here without a big uproar anyway. After all, there aren't many islands in Kansas, and we have the prettiest one in the State.

My high school football coach had a football scholarship from SW. He would have graduated around 66. I still remember when he went back to play in an alumni/varsity game. Was told he punched out the ref and was ejected from the game. :D

I live just north of Zurbo in Bel Aire, north edge of Wichita. Hope to see some of y'all at the Shriner's swap meet, May 21-22.

Winfield Car, Truck, & Bike show is June 26th, a Sunday one day show. This is the 3rd annual, and we usually have a group of board members present. And Yukon should have his truck on the road by then, hopefully, lol!

Home of Kansas Speedway, Verizon Ampitheater, The Agricultural Hall of Fame, and (drumroll please)....The Renaisance Festival! I always seem to forget about the Cruise-In at the Bonner Sonic. I don't know if they are doing it anymore, since they built a building on the back-side.
