Count me in. Everyone should post a picture of their ride so that we can put names with trucks and keep an eye out on the road.

We need to meet at the auto gathering at 1431 & Parmer Lane at the Home Depot one of these Saturdays. A couple weeks ago I met another member, Mike C, there.

People start arriving around 5:30 or 6:00. There are lots of older cars, a few olders trucks, some newer custom cars/trucks, etc. I think it would be cool for us to meet off to the side a little in order to keep our trucks together. I swing by there every once and awhile. My wife has yet to figure out why I tend to make runs to the Home Depot or HEB on Saturday evenings.

I’m out on the edge of Round Rock Hutto and Pflugerville.
I’ll keep an eye out for yall at Home Depot next time I’m out there.
This weekend everyone is probably going to be at the Lonestar Round Up in downtown Austin. (South Congress)
If you haven’t been you really need to check it out. LOTS of nice rides.

I like the long step look :metal: . What year is it 68? Also is the tire on the back mounted there or holding something up   . Just kidding, I really do like the long bed look. be glad you truck is on the road. Mine has been in the garage for the past 2 1/2 years :banghead:. It all started with changing the gauges from dummy lights to gauges. And now I have all the front end removed the truck up on jacks and trying to replace everything underneath so I don't have to get under it any more. But as luck would have it the lack of funds :thud: is keeping my truck on the stands for now :dohh:. All I need to get is the shocks, springs, E-Brake cable Kit, and brake lines. Hope to make it up there some day to say :hi2: in person.

Yeah, it is a 68. Not quiet back on the road, yet. I've got a lot to do before it will pass inspection. But once I get it to that point, I am going to drive it for a while before I tackle the body.

Mine only has 45K on it. And almost all of those miles were on my grandpa's farm, over 25 years!

What size motor does it have? My 70c/10 has a 250 with 43,276 original miles on it. the original owner used it to go from his farm to his feed store in Dime Box TX. for a few years and parked it under an oak tree. My father stopped by one day and asked how much and was told it didn't work so all he wanted was $400 if we could start it and take it :metal: . He emptied the gas tank, put 5 gallons and a new battery and 1 hour later it started  and he drove it home and has been running good sense then, till I started to add the gauges and replace some of the rusted stuff. I'll post some pics when I get my digital camera working.

This truck has the 307 V8 in it. It sat in a pasture for most of the 12 years after my grandpa died. It only came with two options, the ammeter/oil guage and heavy duty rear springs. No one remebers the last time it was driven. My mom was looking for someone to haul it off, so I begged for it.

After I went out to the farm on a few weekends, I got it pulled out of the mud, cleaned out enough to haul home and I got to start and idle a few times. I never could get it to go into gear out there, so we brought it home on a trailer last week. This one was out in Thorndale, not farm from Dime Box.

I look forward to seeing some pics of yours. PM me when you get some pics posted. I have yet to see another on the road.

jfrank,

You should come by the shop where I work on my truck. I'm nearly done with the restoration of the '72 SWB fleetside and would be more than happy to share any tips and information I have. It's on the corner of Burleson and Felter Lane, Austins' Collision and Custom Bodyworks. It's the first street east of Smith School Rd. I'm there virtually every Saturday.

There really aren't any places in Austin to buy new truck parts. I've used Ricks, Classic Industries (especially when they have their 20% off sales), Classic Heatbeat, GMC Pauls, Outback Truck Parts (near Houston plus they always setup at the Rosanky swap meet) and others. Never a bad experience with any of them. This board is a great place for parts, help and ideas. I'm glad I found it when I started my restoration....

Greg

Guys I have some stuff I was going to put it on the parts board but thought I see if any of the local guys can use it first

1st
Subwoofer that fits behind bench seat or buckets if gas tank has been removed. Allows seat to be all the way back. Adds pretty good bass. I had two of these in my truck. Removed one so I get some storage space behind seat. You can hear the setup before you buy.

Specs
8 inch Pyramid PW886 Hyper pro sub woofer in ported enclosure with GM-X352 100 x 1 bridged with low pass filter $45.00

I am rebuilding my FULLY custom 92 extended cab, and needing to transplant a 502 FI into my 84 crewcab dually, My next full custom truck is a 67 small window, short step with no spare indention. It will be a frame off like my 92 and I already have many of the parts. I also have a 71 short step that is way down the list.

Everything is on Hold until I finish my 3500 sq ft shop at the house. Then it is back full speed on the 92.

There is a wekly meet at Albertson's in Oak Hill on Saturday Nights. Good Number of people come out and show some vintage and newer stuff.

It's a bad ass car. He just got it back from Detroit Speed and Engineering for the aluminum big block install.
