Does the L6 292 (w/ 11" clutch) use the same starter as the SBC and big block?
I have a Delco starter that was "warranteed -for -life" from one of the big auto parts chains. The unit functions good electrically but one of the 3 bolt hole ears broke [the one tapped for 3/8-16] on the cast iron housing. I went in to the chainstore to replace it and they told me that wasn't covered by warranty, and they couldn't take it because of the break.
I have another similar starter on the BBC in my dormant '67 K/10 Sub. Can I cannibalize it for the 292 in my '68 stepside? Is the cast iron part interchangable? If so, should I get a junkyard starter with good cast iron and switch it out?
