I am thinking of moving to Texas and Austin seems to be a nice place. I was wondering what there Autistic programs where like in the Round Rock and Austin School district. We may even consider moving to Plano because of the good things we've heard of their Special Need Classroom's.

I am moving so that I can buy my house cash with the equity I made on my home here in Cal. I want to take a few years off of work and look into working with my son. Eventually I want to start a business but that a few years away.

My son is priority one so I need to make sure he gets what he needs.

Thanks,

If you have friends in my situation please ask them email me.

I don't have a child with Autism, but I work with Autistic kids in a recreation center in Austin. And my wife is an Assistant Principal in Leander ISD, out on the NWest side of Greater Austin. She was in Austin ISD for 8 or 9 years before this job. Round Rock has some great programs. Austin has some great programs, too. But you would want to make sure the individual campus/program are a good fit for your son. Both have lots of ancillary services avail to the kids. Speech, music , occupational, recreational therapy. Lots of ways to serve the kids well.

PM me if you want to know stuff about specific areas of town. I'll bounce some stuff off of the wife since Special Education is one of her main areas of concern.

My sister is a speech therapist in Round Rock and I am sure she sees plenty of kids from Round Rock schools. I will ask her her opinion.
