I replaced the switches, the motors in both doors in my 1986 Blazer, but the windows continue to move up and down at a slow, slow pace. Any ideas why??

Any ideas why?? shadetree 05-03-2005, 10:59 PM My 87 burb does the same thing. I've had the doors apart, lubed & replaced everything that was worn, still very slow movement. I gave up. Anyone have a cure? blaserman 05-03-2005, 11:48 PM I had the same problem on my 85. I found out from a body shop the the slides the window is in can be too tight and it pinches the window. The owner somehow moved them apart a little and now the go up and down like a bat out of h _ _ l. :hmm: Psycho 86 05-04-2005, 07:43 AM How did you move the slides apart?? Russell 05-04-2005, 08:00 PM Hmm, thats an interesting idea Blaserman! I would think that if you just pried it apart a bit with a pair of pliers it would work just as well. Cause you do stick the felt back into that channel, which would keep the now slightly bent tracks from scratching the window or something. Another thing I found that is pretty important is a good strong ground. I was working on my 89 tonight when I discovered that the ground wire was broken. So I spent half an hour and sent everything straight to the nearest ground source. It cleaned up the harness majorly not having like 50 ground wires running all over the place, and surprisingly enough, it gave both the power lock solenoid, and the power window a lot more juice. I then went ahead and did the pass side as well, now both windows work quite well, and the wires don't get nearly as hot as they did when you run the windows. The lock solenoid was just barely enough to get the lock linkage to close when the engine was off before, and now it clicks shut without struggling at all :) blaserman 05-04-2005, 10:33 PM Not sure how the body shop did it. Will E-Mail my son he is a body/paint man and see if he knows. Also forgot about not having a good ground. Mudder 05-05-2005, 02:02 AM Long time ago when I did new window channels on the 67 I had the same sort of problem with rolling them up. I used a small amount of graphite. Worked wonders. You will want to watch about getting it on any cloth interior. Just an simple idea. Psycho 86 05-06-2005, 08:23 AM Thanks guys , Im going to try your ideas this weekend!! odee 05-07-2005, 07:28 AM would a silcone spray work as a lube for the slides? I have the same issues with the power windows in my dually. |
