Me again. I have been diagnosing a fuel gauge problem. Found a nice fault tree on this forum. Gauge reads between 1/4 tank and empty and fault tree tells me the 82 ohm ballast resistor (small ceramic resistor with orange stripe on it) that mounts on the back of the gauge is bad. I bought a used instrument cluster on Ebay to get the resistors and other spare parts but, no change in my problem (I guess it's possible that this dash unit had a bad resistor too). Anyone know where to get these resitors? GM provided it with a new gauge but, stopped offering the fuel gauge unit in 2002. After market shops only sell the gauge and not the resistor. I have searched the internet for electrical supply houses but no luck. Any help is appreciated. I have checked the system to the fuse block connection and sending unit and wire are good. Have also put in new circuit board on dash unit as well. Am I on the right track with the diagnosis?

Ordered a fix-a-gauge fuel unit from this comapny on the 16th of May. I have not received it yet, they wont respond to e-mails and faxes and they don't have a phone number. Be careful.

Ooops. Well, thats what happens when you jump the gun. Just received my fix-a-gauge part today. Just slow to process an order and not very communicative. The postmark on the envelope was 5-24 and this is 5-26. Ordered 5-15. Will let all know if this worked.
