Gimme a minute. He's bee hijacked, I'll need to pore over the log to see best removal suggestions.

shifty

Need to run hijackthis from a non-temp directory (save to a folder, run it from there, otherwise it won't back up the things you fix properly and if you screw something up ... you can't roll back to fix it!)

Close ALL windows, especially Internet Explorer (print this out or save it to a text file) - do not - at any time - open another explorer window (so, if you need to download another copy of hijackthis to your computer, do it NOW because you can't do it while doing these steps)

1) Locate and rename these files to have an .exe.old extension. Example: satmat.exe == satmat.exe.old. NOTE: It may be necessary to "show all files" to do this. I can provide more information if needed on how to do this. It's important you get all four or you'll probably get reinfected again on reboot.

C:\WINDOWS\satmat.exe
C:\WINDOWS\farmmext.exe
c:\windows\system32\hwzhlct.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\msftedit.exe

2) Open a DOS prompt. This is done by clicking Start>Run and typing command.com into the run window, then clicking OK. A black box with a blinking cursor will open. Being careful of spaces and -'s and stuff like that, do the following commands:

Type: sc config SvcProc start= disabled and press enter
Type: sc stop SvcProc and press enter
Type: sc delete SvcProc and press enter
Type: attrib -s -r -h nail.exe and press enter
Type: attrib -s -r -h svcproc.exe and press enter
Type: del nail.exe and press enter
Type: del svcproc.exe and press enter
Type: EXIT and press enter

4) Next, Press CTRL+ALT+DEL. Choose the Task Manager. Click the Processes tab. Click the checkbox for "show processes from all users". Sort the process list by "Image Name". Kill these two images, they're spyware running in the background on this machine:

C:\WINDOWS\System32\msftedit.exe
c:\windows\system32\hwzhlct.exe

5) Next, open Hijackthis from your non-temporary folder. Scan. Put a checkmark next to each of these lines:

6) Click the "Fix" button in HijackThis.

Reboot. Scan again and provide me with a new logfile.

One last thought: I will say that these lines look suspicious:

O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\VxD\MSTCP: Domain = mydomain.com
O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{2B47AA9A-8710-4A85-BB0E-0E2F5CC6816A}: NameServer = 24.221.30.3,24.221.30.4
O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{3DCFE92E-C6CA-4F48-BCC9-A281D2F2291C}: NameServer = 69.57.146.14,69.57.147.175
O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{B8B757B0-51E5-4583-A66D-E2691D4A0100}: NameServer = 69.57.146.14,69.57.147.175
O17 - HKLM\System\CS1\Services\VxD\MSTCP: Domain = mydomain.com
O17 - HKLM\System\CS1\Services\VxD\MSTCP: NameServer = 69.57.146.14,69.57.147.175
O17 - HKLM\System\CS2\Services\VxD\MSTCP: Domain = mydomain.com
O17 - HKLM\System\CS2\Services\VxD\MSTCP: NameServer = 69.57.146.14,69.57.147.175
O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\VxD\MSTCP: NameServer = 69.57.146.14,69.57.147.175

They may be legitimate - one of the nameservers is for Sprint Broadband, but the other two are for some "ev1servers" DNS server...which I think is the same company this board is hosted with. IT's just very strange to see this kind of thing in a hijackthis log for non-technical users. I would not suggest removing it unless the user insists.
