OK

I'm not sure what I did or how I did it, and I'm not sure how to fix it.

So here it is.

When I turn my computer on and log into XP home edition this error message shows:

ERROR LOADING C:\PROGRAMFILES\WILDTANGENT\APPS\CDA\CDAENGINE0400.DLL
THIS SPECIFIED MODULE COULD NOT BE FOUND

Can anybody help? :whine:

Okay, Wild Tangent is a company who provides software related to gaming type stuff - like online games and free downloadable games. Some people consider it spyware, so if you're running a spyware eliminator of some sort, it may have deleted or quarantined the DLL file because it thought it was bad.

I can help you fix the problem very quickly if you'll post a HijackThis log. Under the 04-Run section of the log, there will be something loading WildTangent stuff (or possibly something in two other sections loading) and you can check it off there and "fix" it.

Let me know if I can be of more help.

shifty,

Hey thanks for responding so quickly. I do have a spyware eliminator and my daughter is always playing online games, but I have no idea what you just said in the second paragraph. I'm sorry I am very stupid with cpus. How do I hijack this log?

Run that scan again. Put a checkmark in the box next to this line:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [WildTangent CDA] RUNDLL32.exe "C:\Program Files\WildTangent\Apps\CDA\cdaEngine0400.dll",cdaEngineMain

Click the "FIX" button. Reboot. Let me know the results.

Cheers.

PS - your computer is one of the cleanest rigs I've seen in a while. Good job! Always nice to see a responsible computer owner every now and then :)

Go and run another hijackthis scan.

Go and place a check next to this exact line:
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [WildTangent CDA] RUNDLL32.exe "C:\Program Files\WildTangent\Apps\CDA\cdaEngine0400.dll",cdaEngineMain

Then go and hit the fix this button. It should get rid of your problem.

Do another scan and see if it shows up again.

Edit: I'll let Shifty Give help b/c he's the known expert.
