I just bought a 68 chevy 1/2 ton last week :metal: and I can't figure out how to wire up the starter. I towed it home and havent had it running yet. The guy told me it has a newer straight 6 with electronic ignition( looks like the 250). I've tried it a couple ways and I cant even get power to the dash for lights or anything. Can anyone suggest a good web site that explains how the wiring should be from the starter on this type of motor? Thanks in advance Syd

You most likely have already found the best website for info on these trucks. Here's a link (http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/showthread.php3?t=30173) to a FAQ thread about wiring diagrams.

:welcome2: to the board from PA.

Thanks for the reply Mike, I'm no mechanic but I believe this motor has had an HEI conversion as it has an hei distributor and no visible coil. Is there a wiring diagram that would cover that?

Update, between the wiring diagram and an hei conversion article I found I've got the truck running. thanks again 68 Haywagon.

Sorry about the poor picture, it was done tonight with a video camera and it was getting dark. I have to get a complete throttle linkage to the foot pedal before I can move it around. It also needs some sheet metal work which I'll be tackling myself in the coming weeks. The second is my daily driver, another work in progress.
