Shifty:

Are you active or Ars Technica? I have been there 5+ years. There is a SHiFTY there, but he's in London...

Ivancito:

Ars Technica has a forum for linux and one for Macs. Both are pretty active.

Different shifty. I just pop in and check the front page every day. I take regular breaks at work to surf or I freak out and get brainwash.

If you wsee me anywhere online, I never, ever capitalize my name in any way, shape or form. If it's not all lowercase, it ain't me. The only time I'll use uppercase is with tags showing some sort of affiliation, like forum or gaming clan - like .... shifty_MyU or shifty`

I started with the front page, and eventually discovered the forums. Good stuff.

nothing beats the Anandtech forums http://forums.anandtech.com for all around general tech discussion. Or just the anandtech.com site for tech reviews...blows toms hardware out of the water.

Yeah, TomsHardware is kinda slanted for my taste, but, if you look at their reviews from a higher level without scrutinizing the detail or their obvious slant towards certain manufacturers and benchmark scores, the information given on product specs is priceless, especially when you're looking for a product with specific qualities within a group of related products.

For hardcore, technical discussions, I agree wholeheartedly that Anandtech is a great site.

I guess I should add: I visit the forums at fatwallet.com a lot (the 'Hot deals' forum) to learn about super low prices and ways to cheat the system and get wicked discounts on all kinds of household stuff, computer parts, free stuff, coupons and whatnot.
