Im in Waterford Michigan. Anyone???? thats is sooooooooooooooooooo illegal & the fine for any shop doing it is $2500 in fines(corrected amount), so if ya want it done it looks like u'll have to do it unless u find someone who is willing to take the chance of getting caught & paying that high $$$$ fine....joe Slatherd 06-23-2005, 01:42 PM didn't know the legalities of that. Since we don't have emmissions laws in Michigan, I thought I could have it pulled. All the responses I got were simply, "we don't do that" here's the page (http://autos.yahoo.com/owning/maintain/repairqa/qa.html?question=ques081&category=Exhaust+%26+Muffler&topics=qaemmiss%01qamuffle) &&& i quote WARNING: Federal law makes it illegal for ANYONE to tamper with, disconnect, remove or otherwise render inoperative ANY emissions-related control device. The Environmental Protection Agency and most states have actually been rather lax about enforcing this rule on motorists, but they haven't hesitated to nail professional service facilities that have been guilty of tampering. Even so, the fines can be hefty. A violation may make you liable for up to a $2,500 fine! <~~ i stand corrected on the amount of the fine . |
