Hey! Is anyone from the lehigh valley area? I'm going to be going to school there this fall for criminal justice and I just wondered what the area was like, I havent visited the school yet.

What school are you going to?

ChevyCowgirl

Its just called Lehigh Valley College. It used to be the Allentown Business center.

I dont' live there, but I'm up that way all the time.....but it's a nice area. I'm not a big fan of Allentown (mainly cause it's just like another city to me) but when you get out in the country its nice.

I live about 15 minutes north of Allentown, still considered the Lehigh Valley. I'm not a big fan of Allentown or Bethlehem, just cities to me, but I teach in downtown Allentown. The Lehigh Valley is nice, once you get outside of the city, there's a lot of rolling farmland and rural areas. There are a lot of areas that are quickly being built up, but if you venture a few minutes north you'll find farms and rural areas. If you like to shop, there's several malls. For truck parts I'd recommend Whitehall Auto Parts or A&A auto on Tilghman street, both have helped me in the past. Apartments can be found relatively cheaply, but I'd stay out of downtown Allentown or Bethlehem, and stay more in the Whitehall/West Allentown area. PM if yoiu have any questions. :welcoem:

when you pass the 52 mile marker going northbound
look to the left at the house that has all the trucks behind the billbord
there is also a 69 chevelle peeking at you too
yep - that is my place

the college is in a nice area just east of center valley
still find kinda cheap rent in some of the places in coopersburg which is nearby
city stinks - but the outskirts are nice
and the college is NOT in the city - lucky you

Mikeright after mm52 there is a firestation on the right beside the highway
there is a little bridge and a small pull off (don't block the gate - the fire dept uses it all the time)
my house is on the left behind the billboard
it is the stone farmhouse with the big swingset and trampoline

If your at MM52, your just a few miles south of my parents place, they're just south of the lehigh valley exit a few hundred yards from the pike. I'm over here in Easton, right off route 22. Anybody in the Lehigh Valley interested in putting together a "shop night"? Back when my father-in-law was still alive, we used to go to his friends house every tuesday night under the guise of working on his race car, never got a whole lot done on the car but we had a lot of fun hanging out and enjoying some adult beverages.... hahaha....

We are putting a new cab and bed on the truck. Weve got them both on and all of the body pieces are back on but theres still a little bit on the engine to finish up. And then shes gotta get painted and the stereo system still needs hooked up. She'll be done by the time that I go to college though....its gotta be b/c half of the reason i got accepted to the school was because I told the admissions director that I'd take him out "mudding in my truck". I can sweet talk my way into anything lol

I'm working on a day for a get together, given the info everybody has provided. I'll get some suggestions out asap. I was hoping to have my truck there, given I just got it running. It has developed a massive oil leak, the rear main seal and crankshaft bearings are blown. :( We decided to go ahead and have the stoveblot rebuilt, so it'll be a while before it comes home. Thanks for the offer Tom, the 305 is tempting but at this time I have to say no thanks. I do really appreciate your generosity. :) Our 67 has been in the family since 1970, was my wife's grandfather's truck. He left it to my father-in-law, who used it up until it died 9 years ago. He is signing the truck over to me, and is financing the project. Since it has sentimental value, he/I want to keep it original, and restore it to it's original condition, including the stovebolt six. Since he's paying for it and wants the motor rebuilt, I'm not going to complain. I've already replaced pretty much everything attached to the motor, which was a fair chunk of change that I don't wanbt to throw away. I'll be in the market for a second truck to drop an 8 into that has no family sentimental value. I'm hoping the truck will be done in time for the get together. Any idea how long it takes a good shop to rebuild a six? It's great to see so many people interested in a get together. I can't wait. I'll keep everybody posted. :metal:
