Anyone ever powder coated their whole chassis? Any problems? What kind of preparation did you do? How Durable? Finish Quaility? Any rust or chipping Yet?

Any info would be great!!

Did not powdercoat the chassis but did the front, and tranny crossmembers. Prepped them by sandblasting with 220 grit. Its been about 2 years and no problems. You just want to make sure you have all your welding and grinding done beforehand. the stuff is a bear to get off. Haven't tried to get it off with stripper but did by sandblasting and the blaster wouldn't touch the stuff, just knocked the shine off. Hope this helps.

We got powder coating done on my Dads 70CST

This was a couple years ago and its still going through a frame up. We had gotten a place in Transcona to sandblast it, they picked up the frame and took it to thier place in the back of a F**D 1/2 ton to blast it and the powdercoating place picked up it from there and took it to there place to powdercoat it. It ended up being delivered back here in a Semi-Trailer LOL

The only place at that time that had a big enough oven to put the frame in was Monarch in Steinbach. I think the blasting was about $100 and the powdercoating for the frame and bed cross members and trailering arms was less then $300 we are talking Cdn $$$ of course. I really like the way it turned out, it is a VERY durable finish. If you do get it done just be sure to entirely strip the frame, take every part off that bolts onto it.:canada:

Yah I would highly suggest getting someone else to sandblast it, Its not worth the health hazzard and hassle to do it your self and it has to be done good for the powdercoating to turn out. Those prices are a couple years old so you might want to check out what it costs now a days

I had frame, crossmembers, trailing arms, upper & lower a-arms, motor mounts powdercoated for $450. It turned out nice. Just got my drop spindles back yesterday, $40. I installed c-notches before coating and they look like they belong on like original.

What kind of c notches did you do, big 8" one or on like those bolt in ones that early classics and classic performance sell?? Did you have to cut you bed? How much suspension travel do you have?

Thanks
