It won’t be that much longer before retirement and I was wondering about the best and worst weather in Kentucky and Tennessee? I’m seriously considering retiring in one of these Beautiful States. Would I have any problem being a California transplant?
Where are the best cities to live. I’m going to make summer trips to both states in the next few years and would like to know how you all like were your at.

Thanks For your input

Any of you other States feel free to chime in

You don't want to come down here with us on the Gulf Coast?

It would be a lot closer to your family right?

I love eastern TN, someday I'll leave Hurricane alley and git on up there.

im in northern california but i live in kentucky for 2 years back in the 80s and i wish i hadnt left there but with a shot gun wedding i had no option
but if i would go back i would lived outside of louisville the climate is kinda like ours in a way there winters are that bad you can still get around easy even when it snows
the summers can get hot and humid but mostly humid but check online for housing
they have things going on all the time in or around louisville
state motto:beautiful horses and fast women

Lexington, KY is the best place to live in the world. Plenty of affordable things to do, beautiful whether, but still gets all four seasons. THE World Capital of Thouroughbred racing and college basketball. Just my opinion, but I'm not really terribly interested in living anywhere else.

im in far eastern ky, right where ky, wv, and oh meet. i love it here. summer time not much rain and mid 90's usually. winter time usually less than 4 inches of snow on the ground at once and 20's usually.

ky doesn't have smog, so when/if you move here be prepared to have fun with the truck without the law on your back.

If you are into Car and Truck shows of all types then "THERE IS NO BETTER
PLACE TO BE THAN EAST TN." all the major stuff is in the areas of these 3
cities - Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg, and Severville, anywhere close to any of
them would be awesome, plus less than 45 minutes away is the source for
all your restoration needs - Tim Christian, his shop is in Rodgersville, then
you have to consider the beauty - Great Smoky Mountains National Park,
then don't forget about Bristol - Nascars wildest half mile track, can you
tell which end I don't live on :whine: , of course this is JMHO & my $.02 ;)

Im in Louisville and have been for most my life. Summers get really humid thanks to the OHIO VALLEY. Plenty to do thats for sure. Nashville TN is also very nice but FULL of traffic. If you want a nice town with a country type setting go to Lexington. I plan to move to the outskirts of Louisville a get around 5 acres in the next 5-7 yrs. I like to be close to town without all the riff raff of bad people.

:agree: I have to say that Lexington is probably the prettiest place in Ky, the hills, horses, and the beautiful women and lots of them. It's close to 3 race tracks, Keeneland, and the red mile(horses) and Kentucky speedway :metal: where hopefully Nascar will be competing at soon
Lex is clean and very attractive overall and easy to get around and traffic is not toobad(certain areas) but if you buy just outside lex should not be a problem at all with traffic, as I-64 & I-75 run right around lex for easy traveling. All my family and friends are here, but if I had my druthers, I would move to just outside lex GO UK :metal: Just my .02.....Randy

Originally from Mich. Tried Colo. Indiana, Fla. Georgia, before coming to East Tenn. In my opinion this area is the place to be, we love it here.

same story as DR67. i grew up in Mich and lived in NY for about a year. i live right on the TN/KY border so i have it really good. Tn doesn't have income tax and KY has cheaper sales tax, so you can only imagine where i work and shop :D . seriously, Tn and KY are extremely nice places to live and the cost of living is very reasonable. i have been all over in east Tn and it is absolutely gorgeous. i have also been to Lexington and i loved it also, it's very historic and friendly.

WOW you ask a big question I to have been all over this country dont know that I would settle in Nashville ,to big and to much traffic ,Lexington is nice but the cost of living is more than up here in Louisville but LOU was to big city for me as well so I moved across the Ohio River and now I have the best of both worlds Im by a big city so I can get whatever I want quickly or have a nice place to go out to and plently of churchs here just stay out of the west end and dont discount moving a few miles into IN it gets alot cheaper than the city ,traffic systems are not to bad here either and we have 3 major interstates running through here and even though LOU is a big city it still has small town charms well that MHO hope it help PM if you wish
