Hey guys,

I am hoping to find a place in or near portland that is able to cut my crossmember for me. Or if anyone has some good cutting skills and wants to make a buck let me know. I have it all marked out I just need it cut. The guy who was going to do it bailed on me cause he didnt want the liability of cutting the cross member. So now I am up the creek and need a quick salution cause I have my new 406 and 700r4 sitting on a cart in my driveway waiting for a home.

Any help would be great! Thanks

Keith

North East Portland (parkrose) I am all over in beaverton aloha and tigard with work. Depending on where some one is located it would be worth a small dirve.

I will try and get a hold of a friend that lives in Oregon City and see if he would be interested. OH and what do you want done? the cross member cut out, modified??

Hey Mongo,

Basically it needs to be "sectioned" 1.5 inches. Like I said everything is marked. I found out a guy at work has a close connection with a shop in town so while I am waiting for my garage to be re-wired for 220 I may have him cut and weld the cross member back together.

Thanks

I just got off the phone and as luck would have my friend Lon sold his cutter last night, and now is looking fo a smaller more portable one. I guess his was old and too big to move around anyway. well I tried.

I cut thick metal including frames with a 4.5" cut-off wheel on an angle grinder all the time. Also a sawzall with metal blade goes through frames like butta. If it were me, I'd use a combo of those. Might go through a couple of wheels but you'll be left with a clean cut.

An oxy acetylene torch in the right hands will cut it like butter also, plus they are so dang handy to have around.:D BTW Even an amateur can do all right with a torch if he has a grinder handy.;)
