This thread will be updated as progress continues so stay tuned

This started out as a '67 Stepside driver we bought in 1991.

http://mywebpages.comcast.net/joelopez/67c10/67c10_bfgs.jpg

We kept it a nice driver until April 2004 when it was hit and caused the damage below.

http://mywebpages.comcast.net/joelopez/67c10/wreck/DSC00039.JPG

This is the current state of the project. It was in the 70s today in Michigan so I gave my chassis a bath and layed out some of the body parts :D

I was fortunate to score some nice sheet metal this past summer. I still need to decide on a powertrain :burnout:

Chassis is a 1972 1/2 ton 5 lug, front disc, dual exhaust, Big Block mounts, front sway bar setup. Powdercoated gloss black from front to rear.

Rear fuel tank is from FuelCellGuy - www.aluminumfuelcellcom
Moog pitman and idler arms with local rebuilt power steering gear
PST Front end rebuild kit (rubber) - www.p-s-t.com
PST Trailing arm bushings (Poly)
Early Classic 4/6 drop kit - www.EarlyClassic.com
Rear end is a GM 12 Bolt, DTS 3.73, Posi, Moser axles - www.drivetrainspecialists.com
Stainless Steel Brake lines & hoses - www.InlineTube.com

Next up is the parking brake cables. Once that is done, Everything gets torqued down and the chassis is complete :burn:

Cab is currently awaiting some rust repair on the frame mounts, floors and corners along with some minor mods.

A HUGE thank you to my father, this fourm as well as www.FullsizeChevy.com. Without it I would never have taken this project on

wow, another michigander! I didn't see any follow up on the potential michigan get together in the spring......will your project be together by then?

Looks great.....is that a new frame, or is the the old one repaired?

Thanks :D

Not driving by next summer, unless some cash finds its way into my bank account

I bought the rolling chassis from a board member, Jmanz69 last fall. The Frame and most parts bolted to it were already powdercoated. I just added to it

Real nice so far. I'm only a little farther along on the chassis since I've rebuilt the tranny and am almost finished with the 383 SBC stroker. I take it you're considering a BBC?:c2:

Sorry to hear about your accident but looks like in the end you will be coming out far ahead and will have fun doing it to. So far looks great. Look forward to update pictures. Doing this yourself (what you can) will make you even more proud. Good luck with your project.

How much fuel does your tank hold? I was thinking of going with one of these since my Blazer will sit really low.

Thanks Guys

My fuel tank is 16 gallons / 7" deep if memory serves.

That's gonna be a great truck, you sure don't spare any expense do you?:D
honestly, the most expensive items have been the ECE drop kit and the fuel tank. the coated chassis saved me quite a bit of time and $$. I was very fortunate to find it so close to home

My '67 originally had a 12 bolt. I used the powdercoated empty housing from my '72 C10 chassis and had it built up from there :D

Slow but sure, I installed the Stainless Steel brakelines from www.inlinetube.com this week

Here are the pics of my brakelines.
I need to tweak the lines where they will meet up with the lines coming down from the master cylinder once I get the cab back on. I also need to install the clips, but you get the idea.

And yes, I do have some touchup work to do on the finish of my frame

I know how it feels to have that happen. I have a 1968 short step that was originally my grandfathers. He bought it brand new from a local dealership in the fall of 67. My dad learned how to drive in it and he eventually got the truck. When I became old enough to drive he started fixing it up for me. Well, back in Dec. 02 someone hit it in the exact same spot yours was hit and destroyed the front end. It bent the frame on both sides and tore the frame on the driver's side. I have been wanting to fix it up so bad but just don't have the money right now so it is just sitting under a tarp until I can get the money. A friend of mine found me a 67 SWB frame for $250 a few months after it happened but it has been sitting like the truck waiting until I can afford to start working on it. I'm glad to see you have started fixing up yours. I hope to one day have mine on the road again. If you don't mind me asking, what kind of car/truck hit you?

I think the whole setup ran about $370 or so. Not much more progress after that, been a busy summer

Sounds like a familiar story :(

She was driving a black Saturn coupe. The front end looked like a tent.

It was an Integra that did that to mine. It's amazing how much damage these little plastic cars can do to an old steel vehicle. I guess when they're going 60-75mph that will happen.

Well, I cleaned up my garage today. I put the cab back on the rolling chassis.
It doesn't look like I'll get much more progress on it this year.

My buddy is working 6 days with his new job helping run a local hot rod company. Next up is still motor work and the cab, but that may have to wait until Spring...

I must say, even that old beat up cab looks pretty good on the lowered chassis :D

Better late then never :metal:
