View Full Version : Where to buy a good spot weld cutter YOUSTB2WD 11-14-2005, 07:02 PM I have seen threads on this subject before but I got nothing with a search. I am going to be dismantling an old El Camino and I doubt my Blair spot weld cutter with be up to the complete task. Thanks jd4300fel 11-14-2005, 09:51 PM I have used the blairspot weld cutter on my 69 gmc. I have used up three cutting heads.I have removed both rocker panels, kick panels, and both floor panels. I have used lots of wd40 as a cutting oil, I am going to go back and buy more cutting bits for the blair cutter. I figure I cut about 100 welds per head I know using a drill bit I would have had to sharpen it a dozen times cutting throught the welds. I hope this helps I really like the blair cutters ureckme 11-14-2005, 11:50 PM If you have a bench grinder you can make one out of a old drill bit. It will work but its up to you. 82 Silverado 4X 11-15-2005, 08:54 PM After looking all over on a Saurday I found double ended cutters at my local Napa Auto. $12.00 for the cutter on the spring loaded center arbor. qksilver 11-15-2005, 10:05 PM Got a part #? My local Napa shop is less than helpful to put it nicely. Thanks, Steve 55chevy 11-22-2005, 01:38 PM HTP bits, I ordered a Titanium coated drill bit, works great, just been drilling spot welds on a rocker panel. Was only $19 with shipping. http://www.htpweld.com/products/auto...%20Spot%20Weld Killavee 11-22-2005, 02:51 PM I bought mine at Northern Tool.com It cost about 19 bux including shipping to Texas, but it is basically four "bits". It has two spring loaded arbors, with a reversible cutting tip on each one, a 1/4 and 5/16 for different size spot welds. Works real good. |
