Thx Kurtis StingRay 11-18-2005, 04:26 PM What kind of work specifically do you need done? brownk 11-24-2005, 07:03 PM Mostly Drive train....I am doing a conversion from a V6/3 on the tree to a 350/R4 700. So at times it gets quite technical and can't do it by myself. That being said, I have alot of other work that will need to be done in the future body related, etc... Do you have anyone in mind? StingRay 11-25-2005, 09:44 AM Sorry not specifically on that kind of work. Not without you being independantly wealthy anyways. I know of a good reasonable tranny shop and a great rad shop. I know lots of mechanics but conversion work may get pricey when you have to pay somebody to do all of the fiddling and parts scrounging. That swap really isn't that bad for even a novice to do. I'm not sure about GMC v6 to sb v8 mounts but get an auto tranny cross member, shorten your drive shaft (at a shop) get a tranny cooler or a rad from an auto truck. tranny lines, a Lokar shift rod, an auto column and a donor harness from an auto truck and bolt it all together. The only wierd thing will be the lock up converter wiring and you can buy an aftermarket kit that should be pretty much plug and play. Should you decide to undertake it on your own I can certainly provide advice and guidance. Time is in short supply right now or I'd offer to help myself. I can't get a truck done for myself let alone anybody else. Bodywork is expensive if you want to take it to somebody and have it done right. If it's rusty and you want to do it yourself the investment in tools, materials and time isn't likely worth it for a one time thing. If you plan on doing more of the same kind of thing as a hobby in the future then invest in equipment and try it yourself. Once again I can provide advice and guidance as I have done lots of my own bodywork, prep and rust repair over the last 25 years. |
