I have a stalling problem with my 1998 6.5 turbo diesal. I was told it could be my waste gate solenoid. Has anybody replaced theres to correct this problem?

I don`t think it`s the turbo boost solinoid. When they go bad you`ll have low power and lots of black smoke.
The problem is more than likely the Pump Mounted Driver. It is on the side of the Injector Pump and under the Intake Manifold. To save labor and prevent repeat failures, there is a relocating kit available. It consists of a finned cast aluminum heat-sink/mount that bolts to the two upper manifold bolts on the driver`s side and the PMD mounts to this. You just unplug the harness from the bad PMD,which you just leave in place and plug harness into the new PMD.Since it`s no longer mounted to the pump,we refer to it as the Fuel Solenoid Driver or FSD.In this location the FSD will operate at approximately 60 degrees cooler and tend to not fail as easily. The factory mounted it to the pump with the intention of letting the flowing fuel through the Injector Pump to cool the PMD.In actuallity, the PMD heats the fuel going throught the I/P lowering fuel viscosity an decreasing the lifespan of the I/P.So it`s double worth the expense to do the relocation,as well as the labor saved.Diesel Services Group in Saskatchewan sells these. They`re a great resource for all your service parts. They have a website, not sure of the addy, off hand.Go to www.thedieselpage.com and look in their advertisers section.Goodluck.If you end up hanging out on TheDieselPage, you may run into me there.I`m C.K.Piquup on that site.

Thank you for the reply. I have changed my fuel filter and air cleaner and had my injection pump done underwarrenty 20 000 km ago. The Chev dealer told me it would not be my injection pump again. My truck runs good now but occasionally stalls. I will keep trying different things. Thanks again for your help.
