View Full Version : "DOORED" my truck this weekend
camaro__thunder 12-01-2005, 03:14 AM The truck is bodydropped to the doors now, got rid of those rockers and its looking pretty now. The bed will get done this weekend and I will take some more shots as soon as I can.. Well what do you think ? Drag the front bumper off and get a rollpan or keep it ? I have a rollpan for the rear already. Thanks Bo

I agree...maybe a little writeup of what and how you did it...pics showing where your cuts were...blah blah blah...bumper looks hot on the ground...

bodydropped 12-01-2005, 11:59 AM i say drag the bumpers i dislike drug off roll pans
fletch4x4 12-01-2005, 04:30 PM I vote drag the bumper.... and I want more pics
Well what do you think ? Drag the front bumper off and get a rollpan or keep it ?
Bumper. Safety first :) (but don't actually drag it... because _real_ safety first).
FnLow69 12-01-2005, 10:18 PM hell ya we neeeeed more pics!! that looks kick a$$ bro..... by the way drag that bumper off then get a front rollpan.
phantom dually 12-01-2005, 10:29 PM We want more pics!!
camaro__thunder 12-01-2005, 10:49 PM The bumper has plenty of extra bracing as the front frame rails are laying hard.. I will drag it smooth. The whole body lays on the ground, the crossmember is barely off the ground so now I will be dragging body unless I put some kind of plate or blocks on the frame (I got a bunch of titanium)
The truck has a 2.5" drop spindles, 3"z with a 3.5-4" bodydrop, 2" drop BYC tube lca's, a 12" notch in the rear with a Byc Watts link to keep it all centered.
Cant wait to drag it I mean drive it down the road.
I Will get some more pics up ASAP. You can see on the body where I sanded it down to the ugly white paint to make way for the SAWZALL
dragit 12-03-2005, 11:59 PM waaaaaaayyyyy sick!!!!

oh, wait... you meant truck pics. Yeah, what he said.
67Fleet 12-06-2005, 07:13 PM looks killer. I say keep a bumper up front. Front roll pans make me think of Lund for some reason. And Lund and "gay" are pretty much synonimous.
camaro__thunder 12-06-2005, 09:30 PM I'll keep the bumper until I drag it useless then maybe the rollpan or tweaked bumper.. I will get some more pics when I bring the truck back.
I HATE LUND ! The cheesy 2 hoodscoops they have make me throwup !
Damian 12-06-2005, 10:33 PM Man that looks sic. i say keep the bumper, it looks nice on the ground. and yes more picturs.

I still havent finished the bed yet I wanna shoot myself in the head! Also friends dont let friends play with nitrogen regulators. Hit the front of the truck up around 450 psi and blew the front bags! Hopped up pretty damn high though. and yes it sucked, but it was well worth it lol ! He thought it said 200psi HA:Own:
camaro__thunder 12-31-2005, 06:15 PM Here's some more pics, trying to get this thing rolling.
A pic next to the new z71, a side shot of the raised floor, a sideshot of the truck and a pic of the bed on the ground with my drag bar welded on, to try ans let the body touch but maybe not destroy it just yet !

hotrodhomi 01-29-2006, 01:51 PM Update? TTT
tcoop68 01-29-2006, 11:36 PM I have done some low low trucks before just using spindles and spring kits but never dropped the body like you did.I can tell you from my past hope you got some real flat roads where you live.I personally like welding in rollpans with no seams.Be careful when you getter done looks good.
sixty8c10 01-31-2006, 07:23 PM chevy 68, do you have any progress pics of the one in your avatar.....sorry to highjack........ttt
bagged81 02-03-2006, 10:06 AM If my truck was not already painted, I'd do the same thing. :(
sixty8c10 02-22-2006, 07:44 AM camaro thunder, any more pics?
camaro__thunder 02-22-2006, 02:20 PM I will post some more as soon as I get the firewall chopped off and the front tubs installed. With the truck being bodydropped almost 5" and the 3" Z the 22"s are taking up way more space and I plan to turn almost aired out and roll slightly off the ground. The drivetrain is out and the sawzall is ready, its seems I am always helping others and never get to mine. Thanks for the interest guys !
1LoC10 02-22-2006, 05:29 PM Awesome truck man... I just bought my truck 2 weeks ago and that is my exact same plan.... I was bodydropping my s10 when I sold it for this truck
chevydog66 02-27-2006, 01:50 AM Stop being such a nice guy, and work on your own vehicle!! Sweeeet lookin truck, though!!
FnLow69 03-06-2006, 03:13 PM Any progress on this wanna see it layin door on 22's gunna look killler....your truck was my inperation(sp?) to stock floor bodydrop mine to the rockers....
camaro__thunder 03-06-2006, 11:04 PM Just got done switching jobs... Now I can work on it again($$)! The firewall hasnt happened yet. Will post more pics on the 10th. with the rim and tire combo even if it wont fit in the front lol  in the 3rd pic the rear is up at ride height
FnLow69 03-13-2006, 10:21 PM just noticed the pics looks so awsome... got any with the 22's yet. by the way what kinda smoothies are they?
steveo10 03-13-2006, 10:54 PM you are building my dream. looks killer
camaro__thunder 03-17-2006, 02:40 AM The firewall will be done this weekend... need to get some more $$ for tires now, I am getting the underdash brake setup first, and it's expensive!
FnLow69 03-20-2006, 01:50 PM do you have any problems with the bascspacing on those centerline wheels i was looking at those but in 20's but was told the backspacing was to much....
Chevy_68 03-21-2006, 12:19 AM Looking good man I have my entire firewall shaved as well!, as for SIXTY8c10 i'll try to post some progress pics of my truck 4 ya n sorry it took so long to respond just hardly been getting on, but i got tons of new pics so yeah. my bad though.
bagged81 03-27-2006, 09:01 PM Here is a question. It may be stupid, but I am going to ask it anyway, haha. I am not sure how similar out trucks are but my bumper is level with the bottom of my rocker panel. Right now, I have 3" spindles and a 4.5" Z on my frame sitting in my garage and the bumper is 1/2" off the ground and the rocker will sit flat. If I wanted to cut the rockers off (red area) so that the doors layed on the ground, then what do I do about the bumper area (circled with ?)? Would I have to cut say 3.5" (height of the rocker) off the bottom of the bumper? Did you run into this?
camaro__thunder 03-27-2006, 10:36 PM new pics this week for sure.... been working Overtime @ work l:banghead:
The bumper area: I am just going to drag the bumper FLAT on mine.
bagged81 03-28-2006, 06:50 AM Ok, I reread your original post.
camaro__thunder 03-30-2006, 12:22 PM Heres some new pics FINALLY!
Like the crossmember and upper control arm rework ? I cant run 15" rims with my new lowers either they touch the rim with spindles.
I still have to drill the hole for the column, and wait for the underdash brakes to get here.
Heres some new pics FINALLY!
Are you getting enough oxygen sitting up that high in the air? ;)
:metal:
camaro__thunder 03-30-2006, 06:05 PM Hey its only 4' 2" How tall is yours?:floss: When/if I do finally decide to chop the top it will be under 4'
hotrodhomi 03-30-2006, 10:32 PM Please don't chop the top. It looks good as it is.
FnLow69 03-30-2006, 11:16 PM looks badass bro... are the BYC upper and lower arms? cant wait to see the 22's.....
camaro__thunder 03-31-2006, 09:39 AM Thats a NO on the control arms... they are one-offs :) I am however selling the BYC LCA'S for $100 you would just need to make a center Shaft, get bushings and balljoints.
FnLow69 03-31-2006, 10:30 AM ok the arms look sweet, i went with ART UCA and LCA.
bagged81 03-31-2006, 01:27 PM Is that motor going to fit under the stock hood?
Please don't chop the top. It looks good as it is.
Ditto.
camaro__thunder 04-01-2006, 01:21 AM With the way it was the carb held the hood up alone... If I can manage ground clearance I will lower the motor some. thanks guys!
FRENCHBLUE72 04-01-2006, 07:59 AM Any idea how the hood will fit?????? Looks like it will be sitting on top of the tires??
dwcsr 04-01-2006, 09:58 PM Now would be the time to put in the rack if your still thinking about it.
I just re-did my to eliminate the possibility of bump steer.
FnLow69 05-04-2006, 12:49 AM any update????
