So what's up in the North East these day's?

I've been working on my off-road truck, how about anybody else?

Gathering's?

Wheeling trips?

Anything of interest?

Nothing that I know of, my truck is sleeping for the winter. It has been quiet in here lately

I'll be depressed until I can take my truck out of the garage again. I'm planning on taking the gas tank out of the truck during the next few weeks to have someone weld in a sump for me. I need a better way of running a return line to the tank besides the modified sending unit I have now.

I have a pile of stuff to get done before going to Paragone this year...

Busted the case on my tranny on the last outting. :dohh:
So I need to find a core and trade over the parts.

Doing a ram assist kit and figured might as well do the high steer thing at the same time. ca-ching. :o

Going to 39.5's and steel Eaton wheels.
When those come in I'll install the Staun bead locks.

Anybody looking for a nice set of 37's on Weld wheels? ;)

So yeah, lots to do...
Have a great 2006 everybody!

My truck is sleeping for the winter, too. I woke her up last weekend for a quick trip around the block, it was really cool. It's so warm here the last few days that the trees are beginning to bud out.
I was wondering myself why it's been dead here lately.

My truck is in pieces right know, I am building a new frame out of boxed steal, 2x6 main piece under cab and the rest will be 2x4, I have a new Fatman front suspension and narrowing both the rear rails and differential for wider tires as well as a new suspension in the rear. I am taking the gas tank out of the cab and putting one in the rear and will be probally putting the fill hole in the rear fender (not sure yet what or how I am going to accomplish it but I am). I also haven't decide on the fuel tank as of yet, I don't like the idea of the blazer/suburban tanks becasue these look like $hit in the rear (my opinion) Looking at the price gas tanks is rediculas, how can these guys justify $400-$600 some are even more for a freaking square box with a couple of holes, materials whether it be aluminum or steal is well under $100?

PLavelle: On the return line to the tank, my guess is you are going fuel injected? If your are using the in the cab tank most of the sending units in the 67's had 5/16 fuel lines, If so you will need or should have a 3/8 inlet & return. I purchased a new sending unit and drilled a hole through my sending unit next to the inlet line and bent a piece of 3/8 tubing to go through and soldered it in their as well as soldered it on the inside part of the sending unit to the inlet line for stability.

Why the extreme beef up?
Putting something up front that makes it mandatory? :hmm: ;) :c2:

The motor in this is a 427 Small Block Chevy, I am putting out at least 500HP & 515TQ at the flywheeel, rear dyno numbers where 392 RWHP & 412 RWTQ with a screwed up carb and bad ignition, Ignition has been replaced with a full MSD setup and the carb just went back to Barry Grant to have them find out what is going on with it.

The front suspension I put in a couple of years ago keeps eating bushings, the suspension system I purchased was improperly engineered (I guess my fault I wanted to try and save a few bucks and go with a less expensive setup) the front suspension is welded in pretty tight and would not be real pleasurable to get it out and by the time I did manage get it out the front end would almost be trash and would have to reclip the front anyways. The rear suspension work is to try and get the tires to stick a little better, 30mph and snap the throttle and the truck will go sideways. (Makes nice for doing burnouts and going nowhere fast)

Anyways todays progress went well, I cant even think how many times I must of measured, remeasured and remeasured again X 4. I started out making a jig setup and today I actually started making the pieces of the frame and getting about 2/3 of the front section cut & welded. (Basically back of cab to the front suspension crossmember)

Where did you get the ram-assist? PM me with info if you want VT. I'm looking in to ram assist, too.

considering it. It sound easier to put in than power steering. Also someone on the board pointed something out to me. With stock power steering, all the power is in the steering box. With ram assist, the power is in the steering itself, which sounded better to me.

WOW!!!!!! TOO MUCH MONEY FOR ME TO SPEND!!!!!!! HOLY SH!T!!!!!!!

 it can be done for less, do the research so you can buy the parts separately and build it yourself.
Quite a few other company's out there that sell ram systems too.

Be careful though, if not set up correctly, your over the road steering could suffer.

I dont know. I know a guy who has a 70 Chevy 3/4 ton 4x4 with a good drivetrain, 4 speed, and a 307 v8, along with power steering. I could probably get it for small price, which would be better than paying that much for ram assist. Thanks for the info though.
