View Full Version : What Up guys/gals !! were you at ?lets get a spring meet together now!
gn4u2c 01-06-2006, 10:41 AM I always here talk of wanting to get a time to meet up. Lets throw some ideas of a date/ place out there for spring and we can all show off what we got done over the winter besides drinking beer and gaining weight (my specialty) .
There are alot of older trucks in the area just not sure whos a member and whos not.
I think something close to a major road / highway in the event out of towners want to come it's easy to find. :fb:
Maybe someone has a business or larger parking are we could meet at ??
Smokin85 01-06-2006, 12:27 PM sounds like an idea
smokekiki 01-06-2006, 03:03 PM Checking in from West Chester,Pa.
68haywagon 01-06-2006, 05:18 PM :gi: I like the idea....we tried to have one in the Allentown area last fall but no one showed up. Matt67C10 has a farm with plenty of room for trucks. He might want to host another one sometime in the spring or summer, we'll have to ask him. I might even have disc brakes in time too
Mike
gn4u2c 01-16-2006, 08:45 AM Keep the ideas comming I can make that drive its about 4 hrs but I can do it.
Matt67C10 01-18-2006, 07:22 PM :gi: I like the idea....we tried to have one in the Allentown area last fall but no one showed up. Matt67C10 has a farm with plenty of room for trucks. Mike
I'd be very happy to host another event, that is if people would actually show this time. I'm about 15 minutes north of Allentown, and about 15 minutes from the PA 476 NE Extension of the Turnpike. Of course I'd be game for having it here, or somewhere else as well. You can count me in. I won't have done much to the truck by then, but hey, who needs an excuse to get together, talk trucks and drink beer?
OLDCHEV4X4 01-19-2006, 10:03 AM Wagontown PA. is here
Hamburg Pa here, 40 minutes west of Allentown
Matt67C10 01-20-2006, 02:16 PM Cool, are you guys interested in a Northeast get together?
well hopefully i will have my 81 stepper on the road, have pics in the 73-87 message board under "more progress"
OLDCHEV4X4 01-23-2006, 10:22 AM Lets meet at the dirt drags in Kempton Pa. north of Kutztown. Camping, racin, and good times guaranteed. They have them three times a year.
68haywagon 01-23-2006, 11:10 AM Do you know the dates? I would be game..it's only about an 1 1/2hr or so from me.
Mike
OLDCHEV4X4 01-23-2006, 12:17 PM Its not listed yet on the EC4WDA.org web site yet, but last year they were on 4/30, 6/18, 8/20. April and August would be the best. The June race is combined with the Kempton fair and it gets crowded.
Their is street legal racin and non street legal classes. And several old Chevys that race including myself. Drags and obstacle course.
mmmmmmm.....chevy trucks....the smell of cam II.....campfire......yuengling...(said like homer simpson).
just alittle info for everyone there is going to be a small swapmeet in Leesport Pa,(just north of Reading Pa) i believe its on the 26th of FEB. i will double ckeck on the date to make sure
smokekiki 01-23-2006, 12:29 PM What about the swap in Hamburg? It used to be a week or so after Leesport.
I didnt here or see of any date for it yet, but if and when i do i will let ya know
gtomechanic 01-23-2006, 09:51 PM :gi: I'll second the Kempton meet ,It's great place and great time.Be better if I could beat OLDCHEV in the dirt drags though,He's got one good running 72blazer.
vtblazer 01-24-2006, 06:48 AM Lots of guys in the PA area, that's pretty cool.
Same old game...if only I was closer.
Have a great time.
Matt67C10 01-30-2006, 08:35 AM ttt
special-K 02-01-2006, 07:35 AM I drink beer.
Matt67C10 02-01-2006, 12:38 PM "Beer is proof that God wants us to be happy"- Benjamin Franklin.
OLDCHEV4X4 02-08-2006, 07:39 AM spring Kempton race was canceled. The race is Aug 19 and 20
lazerus 02-10-2006, 12:49 PM hopefully my burb is together for the get together
gn4u2c 02-14-2006, 01:29 AM keep the ideas comming !! we could even do a park or something thats got a few grills or allows it and BEER. If there is no beer we will have to meet a hooters instead so I can get some wings, beer and keep my eyes busy. you can reserve tables there and they always have parking. I mean like 1-2 pm on a sat/sunday heck most guys are with the wife. I know they dont make hooters a regular stop.(at least not many)
gn4u2c 02-14-2006, 01:36 AM heck I would do it at my house but I say about 10- trucks would be the limit we could just park in the yard, turn the classic country on get drunk anf cry over how much money we got in our out trucks
Matt67C10 02-14-2006, 12:05 PM I will still offer my farm...but am obviously open to other places as well. A park, a drive-in, whatever...
Just courious if anyone from the area ventured out to the swapmeet in Leesport Pa. There wasnt a whole lot there but it seemed like alot of people let w/ something in hand, I was going to set up and unload some old 50's car and truck parts i have laying around I dont need, but working a regular job and helping my buddy out in his shop keeps me busy, so I didnt have time to get things together.
just asking if anyone from the valley is going too hit the swapmeet in Hamburg tomorrow
NitroMike 03-10-2006, 05:11 PM I can offer the group a great setting (a University Campus), lots of parking, pay-as-you-go food, space for the kids to run around or just hang out in the shade. Only problem, it would be in the Lehigh Valley again on the eastern end of PA. Didn't sound like that drew well last time you tried it. Close to Jersey though. Maybe some of those guys would like to join us.
If anyone is interested, let me know.
Matt67C10 03-13-2006, 07:34 AM I think that's a great idea. I tried to have it at my farm last time, but Mike, aka 68Haywagon was the only one who showed.
68haywagon 03-13-2006, 08:47 PM :metal: Was a good time!
Matt67C10 03-14-2006, 07:43 AM It definitely was, and my truck wasn't even there
rigon4 03-15-2006, 03:45 AM in may/june there is a small car/truck/bike show if there are people interested i will get more info. i know it is $10 to get in with a free meal and prizes. in east syracuse NY zip 13057
68haywagon 03-16-2006, 02:22 PM I like car shows...but I don't know if I would bring my truck to one that I would have to pay to enter. It looks like hell and just isn't worth the money for me. That's why I love the W-B car cruises....they are free, you can literally bring anything with wheels, there are prizes but people don't fight for them, everyone there is friendly, and it's an event you can bring the whole family to.
Mike
Matt67C10 03-16-2006, 05:08 PM :agree: Too bad I have to miss the first two :whine:
Green Monster 03-22-2006, 12:58 AM in may/june there is a small car/truck/bike show if there are people interested i will get more info. i know it is $10 to get in with a free meal and prizes. in east syracuse NY zip 13057
My Sister used to live in Liverpool about 5 years ago. I used to visit and we would go to the Dinosaur Bar-B-Que. What a place! Ribs are awesome. Heck, everything is awesome.
Newbie checking in from Southeast PA. Chester County. Malvern to be exact. Great looking site. Look forward to getting together. Weather permitting though. I'm topless.

I live off of the Downingtown side of Boot road.
OLDCHEV4X4 03-22-2006, 10:18 AM welcome Green Monster from Wagontown!

if you know of any i dont post em here!!
rtsmith 04-27-2006, 10:46 PM Sounds good you can count me in unless it falls on a day I have a race. Just an idea there are some places around Hanover that have different get together meets of all types of classic autos. Just my 2cents worth.
SURFER1316 04-28-2006, 03:00 AM I've been checking, these sites...
http://www.njcarshow.com/
http://www.carshownews.com/national/NJ.htm,
pretty good lists there
special-K 04-30-2006, 09:10 AM Hanover sounds good, let`s do it!We can also have a party at someone`s place,if we put our minds together.I`m offering mine as an option.Although,I`m at the edge of this region and not as central as some.
Matt67C10 05-01-2006, 07:27 AM I'm still offering my place as well, near the Allentown, PA area.
gn4u2c 05-01-2006, 10:23 AM I can supply some stuff if we get this together, beer, beer, beer, beer and maybe some paper plates or something.
Smokin85 05-01-2006, 09:59 PM all we need now is a time, place, and more ice cold beers
special-K 05-01-2006, 10:02 PM Matt,sounds like the best idea yet.How can we organize something?Start with a date?We already know who`s bringing all the beer,lol.
How many could consider Matt`s,Allentown area?Me=1
68haywagon 05-01-2006, 10:16 PM Yea I brought the beer the last time and no one was there. So I'll leave that to gn4u2c :b69:
Oh and Matt the June cruise is cancelled because of the W-B bicentannial.
Lets set a date.
Mike
Matt67C10 05-02-2006, 05:09 PM Me-3, obviously...
special-K 05-03-2006, 07:07 AM Part of the problem is most guys don`t look here much,me included.Let`s get pms to some of these guys for input on a date.I don`t have time right now. But,does that sound good?
gn4u2c 05-03-2006, 02:13 PM Trust me extra beer is never a bad thing. Mybe we can get a sticky in the top of the message forums for say 30 days or so Have to get with the mods on that.
68haywagon 05-03-2006, 06:08 PM Ok lets start deciding!! Does everyone agree a weekend is best? Which day? What month is good? What time is good? :fb: We need to actually do this!!
Matt's place is nice...plenty of room!
Mike
special-K 05-05-2006, 07:21 AM Yes,a weekend for sure.For instance,Allentown is a couple few hours for me.
Matt67C10 05-06-2006, 06:37 PM I'm generally free most weekends this summer. Any ideas?
Green Monster 05-07-2006, 12:44 AM Checking in from Chester County.
raceway park cruise night is tonight (tuesday)
68haywagon 05-09-2006, 09:58 PM Well June is pretty much shot for me every weekend. How about July?
Mike
Matt67C10 05-11-2006, 07:46 AM July works for me!!
fast_dev 05-21-2006, 10:51 PM keep me posted, im about an hour and a half away.
gn4u2c 06-02-2006, 10:16 AM Ok I will help Nail this down ,Lets say The last sat or sunday or July The 29th or 30th. That way everyone can get all hot driving around these old trucks with no air, overheat along the highway, spend $80.00 in gas get all mad because there kids ran into ther truck with a bike last night right after you finished waxing it exc- exc. Then we will have a few beers and make it all better. ;)
july 29 or 30th works for me
is this ok with you matt??
i may also know a couple 67-72 die hards that arnt members because of there lack of internet knowledge that may be interested in a truck meet
i guess sunday might be best for most but im good either way
NitroMike 06-02-2006, 10:36 PM Have we picked a location yet. I can offer one in Eastern PA if one hasn't been selected yet.
68haywagon 06-02-2006, 10:50 PM We had Matt's place picked out because it has plenty of room. If that date is OK with Matt and he still is offering his place we are good to go. If not where did you have in mind?
Mike
PS: That date looks good to me!
Have we picked a location yet. I can offer one in Eastern PA if one hasn't been selected yet.
im defenitly ok with anywhere nere mikes too if matt has to bail
im alot closer to nitro mike
hell , if you guys wanted a 3rd choice id offer my place ,that way i wouldnt have to decide which of 3 trucks i would drive there. id pay for all the burgers and dogs and supplies and sodas and chips!! id spend nearly that on gas . and if it rains my dinning room kitchen and living room are huge.
id say my yard could acomidate a tailgate party of about 15-20 trucks in front and 30+ trucks in the back.
big patio with a nice fire place
AND a petting zoo in the back for the kids, kinda (all pendup so you dont have to worry about your truck getting horned by a goat)
and 7 mins. away from 6 flags great adventure theme park if you wanted to drop the wife and kids there or make it an entire day event for the whole family
Wild83C10 06-03-2006, 07:46 AM If anyone is interested the Hot Rod Power Tour is coming through Harrisburg Pa (june 8) then cruising up to Englishtown, NJ (raceway park, June 9). Should be a ton of cars and some trucks (at least 2500 vehicles). If anyone else is interested in going let me know.
The cruise night at E-town is pretty cool too. Like JC said, burn-outs, rock crawling track and sometimes drag racing. Sometimes you even get to see an idiot on a bike crash doing a wheelie.
NitroMike 06-03-2006, 10:01 AM I have access to the 400 acres of DeSales University in Center
Valley,PA. (I book the space to outside groups in the summer as part of my job). We have a number of parking lots that would surely hold our Northeast group. Our air-conditioned food court is open for pay-as-you-go food. Plenty of restroom facilities. It would be BYOB and as long as we keep the partying on the "down-low" we could have the event here and expand next summer if there is enough interest.
We are at the intersection of Rt. 309/378/78 and just a few miles from the PA turnpike between Allentown and Quakertown. July 30 works for me. We have other groups on campus but have plenty of room for the 67-72 faithful.
That said, I would be willing to go to Slatington or to JC's (I've been there. He's got enough trucks and parts to make everyone drool) if that suits everyone better.
Just let me know what everyone prefers.
gn4u2c 06-03-2006, 03:36 PM lets call it the 30th !!! I will get either a caig of beer and a nice big container to keep it iced down or get a few cases o diffrent stuff so we got choices. I will get it iced down no matter what !
Ok lets vote on a place. someone list all the possibilties, say a 2 week vote on it and at the end of 2 weeks thats where it is. If you say your comming don't forget !!! lets make this a nice event !! maybe even one of the vendors would like to come setup and show off some new parts ??
as soon as matt confirms the 30th is ok with him and his place is available still i will gladly set up a tread for voting on location
so far i compiled a list of members that subscribed to this tread and added a few members taht i know are really close to my place and clould probably make it and ive come to about 23 possible members so far
if you are the least bit interested in attending post in this tread and i will
PM everyone with updates and links to voting treads
start pming people you guys know any where near us and clue them in and tell them to post here ,and i will keep em up to date via pm
responsable drinking is ok with me just rember its a long trip back home for alot of us no matter where the location ends up being.
72swbcamo 06-03-2006, 07:30 PM I would be intrested in attending a meeting. I don't know if my tow truck could make a 4-5 hour trip to the Leigh Valley. I used to make the trip to Leigh U. in 3 hrs. when my son went there but that was in a car. Closer would be better.
68haywagon 06-03-2006, 09:45 PM :metal:
barepaint 06-03-2006, 11:00 PM is this open to newcomers?
