Here's one... about 2 years ago I was replacing the ujoints on my '89 burb on my driveway (which is of course sloped). I had the parking brake on. I was trying to pull off the driveshaft at the differential and was having a hard time. I had to give it a good pull and all of a sudden the truck started rolling backward w/ me under it. I had to make a quick decision to roll out from the side as it roller into the street. I had to chase it into the street. Luckily, it started to turn and went kind of into the center of the street without hitting any cars.

Probably one of the dummest things I've ever done. I didn't block it and the parking brake was out of adjustment...

A couple of years ago a similar thing happened in Grass Valley to a do-it-your-selfer only he was crushed and killed. Jack stands and blocks are your friend.

I was working under my then 71 Camaro and bumped it out of gear and it dropped on my chest. I was younger and a lot stronger then, but with a 52" chest there was not any room and I tore 2-3 ribs loose from my sternum. D@mn that smarted for awhile, glad you didn't get run down!

Yeah, my mom and then girlyfriend pulled me out. My brother that passed away last summer ran himself over when he was 16. He was changing a starter in my mom's 74 Nova (4-speed, this comes into play later) anyways, being in a hurry, he didn't disconect the battery, grounded the wrench he was using to tighten the pos term on starter and the car lurched forward and off the ramps, and onto his chest, mom was there to bail him out as well!! Damn I miss him:(
