Ahh, electrical problems - the bane of the backyard mechanic. I decided to get working again on my '54 3100 hotrod project for my daughter due before she graduates this year from Annapolis and hopefully before Spring Break. I started it a few days ago - let it run for a short time to make sure nothing was leaking etc. Then I ran into the problem I listed earlier on my wife's Astrovan. Went out this morning to start the 54 and check the clutch (it's on a '77 frame and drivetrain) and nothing! I checked the wires and all looked good. I put the multimeter on the starter itself and getting the proper voltage there. I took out the ignition switch (from the original '54) and when checking I'm only getting a little more than 7 volts when it's turned to the on position. The question - just a bad ignition switch? or something more serious?
