how do you "fade" the colors together? i want to do some white into yellow flames, and i can never get the colors to fade, its always a blunt change when i do it.. wanna make a free (to me) trip to KY to paint some flames anyone?

You have to use a detail gun if the flames are bigger, or an airbrush, get a nice transition from one color to the next. The very first set I shot I tried to fade the two colors with my normal paint gun. It ended up exactly like how you explained, too harsh of a transition from one color to the other.

You'll probably think I'm crazy, but I use a full-size gun. I just crank up the pressure to 100 psi, ajust the flow to a wide pattern, hold the gun back and lay it on! (this also requires that you down at least a six-pack first).

:) I'm in the process of doing two more flame jobs as we speak. One is a green Harley with green flames, and overlapping pearl green flames. (it looks cool, honest) :)

In case you didn't catch this, here is a sportster I did. This tank will be a centerpiece for my livingroom soon because I bought a custom "stretched" tank to replace it.

i was gonna say flames arent that hard, im only sixteen and i can do them, but mine are solid color. but hey i still get a lot of compliments on them!

oh by the way mine are on an 86 ford ltd wagon, dad got the car, i didnt have a choice, i just bought me a '69 chevy c-20 though, my next goal is to get it running. i guess 15 years of sitting in a field isnt good for a truck.
