Jebb1978 01-26-2006, 06:00 PM Hey guys, I know that I will never find one but you can't blame a guy for trying can you???
Nicer the better but I will settle for repairable.
Chrome prefered but again if you have one that is a factory painted piece please let me know.

Is that your truck? I snagged the pic off a google image search for a referance.
I have only seen a couple on ebay and not in a while. I should have bought the last one but I thought I would hold out for a nicer on... Fat chance Eh?....
I will be looking so if anyone has a lead please send it my way.
Thanks Guys:)
Shawn
northerngmc 02-01-2006, 02:27 PM Yes that's my truck.
I will keep you in mind if I come across another.
I have a really nice 58 GMC grill hanging on my garage wall, but it is from a 2 ton fire truck and about 4 to 6 inches wider.

It is a GORGIOUS TRUCK, it is everything I hope mine will be some day. :cong:
Small world when it comes to the ol GMC's I guess. I tried to get one off an old dump truck a few years back and found it wouldn't work when I got there. I could have bought the whole running truck for $1500. Thanks for keeping me in mind.
northerngmc 02-02-2006, 04:55 PM Thanks, I really like and enjoy my truck. I drove it for 13 years looking like this, before I took the plunge and paid to have it painted.
Jebb1978 02-02-2006, 11:03 PM Please tell me where I can find that last truck!!!! I have been looking for that grille for years. PM me if you want to work something out. If you can talk the owner out of it I will buy it from you.
Actually I could use the bumper too.
Thanks,
Shawn

My Dad drove ours in priemer for 10 years:lol:. Great job it is beautiful man. Sorry I forgot to respond at first. After seeing the pics above it is hard to think about anything else. He drove it for 15 years and it has never had a grille because he won't run it with a Chevy grille. He gave it to me about 4 years ago and it has been tore down and I am just going to start getting it back together. Got alot of clean sheet metal now I just need the trim. The cab is supose to go out for body and paint soon:).
northerngmc 02-03-2006, 01:03 AM Do you have signal lights to go in that grill? They are rare!
Jebb1978 02-03-2006, 10:57 AM I don't have a thing! No brackets, no bumpers. Not a thing but I am determined to find it all.
northerngmc 02-03-2006, 02:44 PM I believe bumpers and brackets are reproduced.
The original signal lights are not reproduced and are selling for $700 - 1000 a set for NOS. There is a guy near you reproducing them and here is a quote from an email I recieved from him.
"I made a set out of three pieces of billet aluminium that are water jet cut. Placed a bullet light which is very close to original. Mounted clamps on the back side so they could be mounted from the front without taking off the grill.

I think he wants about $300 a set.
I am in no way associated with him, but simply passing along his information.
I will see what I can do for you but it will take a while. I got some outher stuf I have to get done
Norselander 02-03-2006, 11:53 PM These are hard to find. But I've been thinking about selling mine: http://oldtruck.net/phpBB/index.php (under GM Truck Parts)
Relative to the bumpers, you can buy a Chevrolet bumper (original) and drill the additional holes (for the Dagmars) or just run it as a '59 and fahgetabowtit.
I have to question whether modifying a new bumper would be worthwhile seeing as how the reproduction parts stores state that Chevrolet bumper guards won't work on repop bumpers (ie: the repop bumpers aren't true to the original shape)

The more I look at that truck the more I want the whole thing. I need a ton of parts off that thing. If you can put me in contact with the owner or however you want to do it I would really appreciate it. If you can pick up the truck cheap we can talk about what you want for it. Maybe you can make a few bucks off it. I can wait until you have time I doubt I am going to score a truck like that in the mean time. Let me know as I am very interested. If you decide to buy it PM me what you want for it first so you don't get stuck with a truck you don't need.
Thanks again,
Shawn

I tried to look at what you have but I couldn't figure out where the listing or pics are.

Thanks for the tip, I am really close to him so I will keep this info. If I get a bumper and am in need of these I will call him.
Thanks again for all the help and of course the inspiration!

OK Jebb, I -finally- inserted a link to the photos.
Jebb1978 02-13-2006, 11:58 PM Hey thanks, I have checked back a few times. The pics are not too good at least not with my home computer. I will try to get a better look from work on Wed. I will let you know. Is that tailgate for sale?
Norselander 02-14-2006, 04:37 PM Agreed -- those shots aren't the best. But the images are pretty big (likely to exceed your monitors display limits) so if they don't fill your screen you can expand them through the browser.
The tailgate is on my driver and is not for sale at this time (though isn't it a gem -- super-straight and no rot).
Thanks for responding.
Jebb1978 02-15-2006, 11:35 AM Actually those are much better from work. Yes that is a nice looking tailgate from what I can see.
Expect a PM in the near future with a decision. I have sent a link to the pictures to my chrome plater to see what he thinks as far as how well it will come out. Thanks for the link.
Jebb1978 02-17-2006, 07:55 AM Okay noselander PM sent a back on 02/15. Did you get it? I haven't heard anything.
Thanks,
Shawn
Jebb1978 03-02-2006, 11:58 AM Thank you guys all very much for all the leads! I have recived tons of them both in this thread and in my PM box. I struck a deal this morning for a really nice donor truck. I will be posting pics when I pick it up next month. I think I scored a much better cab and front clip aswell! Watch the message board if you are interested in the project as it will commence soon!
Thanks especially to northernGMC who has been a very valuble source of information!
Thank again everyone,
Shawn:)
Norselander 03-02-2006, 01:11 PM Way to go!
HOTFUN 03-02-2006, 02:26 PM Good luck Shawn, I'll be interested in following your restoration.
