Well A buddy of mine has just gotten Concast cable internet. The lady on the phone said he should get around 4-6Mbps.. I gave him a link to the cnet and to another speed test.. he gets around 1.7Mbps...

He has an older PC with windows 2000..

Could his PC give him the lower speeds.

I am going to walk him through acouple of cleanup programs.. Hijack this and spybot, with a touch of ad-aware..

I am going to have him call them again. He says, (and I don't know where he got it from) that the area he's in gets a max of 2.2.
But he is paying 50-55 a month. I would thing he should be doubled my dsl of 1.2-1.4Mbps through qwest..

I would try your speeds at this site also and see what you get as ive used cnet too and it shows not so accurate speeds.

with my wireless hooked up though my roadrunner i get about 4mbps when i hard wire into my roadrunner it pushs 6 mps
