View Full Version : can someone change the color of the wheels please!!!
FirstGen 01-31-2006, 03:26 PM Ok guys, I know this is not a Chevy truck but since mine got totaled I had to get something else to drive and this is what I got. My truck will be resurrected soon but this will allow me to get back and forth until then.
Ok, I love the wheel design - NOT the color of them, gold is not for me. Would someone be so kind as to change the color to first and light silver and second to a dark silver? I cannot decide which one to powder coat them. Just the middle of the wheel leave the lip chrome.
Thanks!
Wait wait wait one dern minute. Your truck was totaled?!

Yes sir. I posted up pictures of the wreck a while back I'll see if I can find the link for you. It is fixable but not easily. Will need a new bed and cab along with mechanical repairs...
FirstGen 02-01-2006, 09:29 PM I am surprised that as much as I have contributed to other board members reguarding lengthy details on the LS1 swap conversions that no body here will do a little photoshop deal here. If I knew how I wouldn't be asking.
Frizzle Fry 02-01-2006, 09:55 PM I'd do it, but I'm at work. Maybe tonight :)

Just slow down a minute. A simple TTT would probably do the trick. Most of us are busy and finding time to do photoshop work on the side can be difficult.
I'm on the wrong computer right now (no mouse, just a laptop track pad). I'll see if I can do it tomorrow.
Can you give us some specs on the car? It's nice looking. My brother-in-law is really into porsches. He has an '86 that he has done extensive engine and suspension work on. It is louder than both my trucks put together. I'd consider one, but it is hard to get the baby seat in back!
FirstGen 02-01-2006, 10:50 PM TTT, there is that better? ;)
The car is mostly stock with some suspension mods. I am pulling the motor and tranny and doing a stroker LS1 swap with a Porsche 930 transaxle... The turbo porsche motors are just too expensive and require too much maintenance for my blood!

bouncytruck 02-02-2006, 01:02 AM Silver is much better.
Car appears to be black. If so, powdercoat the wheels black (leave the polished lip, of course).
</2 cents>
Frizzle Fry 02-05-2006, 09:49 PM Yep, that gold makes me wanna:barf: but it looks great with the silver or black. I'd probably go black. I was going for a dark grey like he asked for, but the second one came out looking pretty close to black. If you want another angle FG let me know.
FirstGen 02-05-2006, 11:04 PM Yeah, I thought about black also however that is way too popular. Not to mention that it totally hides the wheel design and I really like it.
If you get bored, I would love to see it from a straight side view also. I'm going to get them powdercoated on Tuesday so I need to make up my mind!
Thanks!
Another option... ;)

Frizzle Fry 02-07-2006, 07:32 PM Didn't have time to get back to this yet. Did you get them coated?

I said "BIG Improvement", not perfect.

Well... true. Plus it looks like the Daytons don't come in the right bolt pattern for the Porsche. Do they have any idea what kind of market they're missing out on?
So FirstGen, tell us more about this powerplant redo you mentioned. You're really going to swap in a small block? Where does it go? (It's been a while since I've seen one up close, but I'm thinking that flat engine is a lot shorter front to rear than the LT1.)

Check out that site. Its has all the pics so you can tell where that engine will go and how much it will cost to do it.

That is a great site, however they specialize in carburated Gen 1 small block chevys. I plan on using the LS1 powerplant which is totally different in every aspect besides shear dimensions. Another guy did do a LS1 conversion however he used the weaker transaxle. I plan on using the 930 turbo transaxle. It will require that the 930 transaxle rear tail housing and mainshaft be shortened to do this. I like to do things once and do them right. As far as I know, there is not a LS1/930 transaxle 911 car in the world as of this moment.

Yeah it goes in place of the flat 6 cyclinder in the back of the car. I'm gonna use a typical SBC adapter plate on the LS1 and make room for it. I will shorten the transaxle to make additional room. There is plenty of width and the length is pretty close...

SCOTI 02-11-2006, 11:32 PM Guys, I've seen the car in person & it looks to be one heck of a starting point. And for the locals, don't even think about it . . .... I called dibs on the first white knuckle cruise  !
