It does the job and they have a free version (not to be confused with the 30day trial version!) It seems to update regularly without asking me (which is good!) and it's very easy to maintain. Downloads are small. It also detects a few diff't kinds of spyware also. If you are looking for a pay solution, I suggest NOD32. (Google for it) If you are moving from one antivirus program to another, it is important to completely remove the one you're using, *reboot* so it can completely remove itself, then install the new one. I suggest downloading the new one ahead of time and if you're paranoid about being without antivirus, disconnect from the internet or something when you do the upgrade. Tynee 02-01-2006, 08:46 PM Yeah, I've been using the free version for a couple of years now. I'm just trying to decide if I need to upgrade to Symantec for $$$$'s or not. I'm feeling like I'll probably stick with the AVG. I've run both of the on-line scans you suggested on the virus thread, and neither found anything, so I feel like the AVG must be doing a decent job. shifty 02-02-2006, 12:09 AM Symantec sucks ass. Don't bother. All of their products are utterly worthless works of garbage. OhioChevy 02-02-2006, 06:11 PM I agree with shifty about symatec...they suck. I bought a two-year anti virus program from AVG. shifty 02-02-2006, 11:20 PM If I could buy anything right now, it would be NOD32. Their antivirus is by far the best pay-for product out there. AVG is a great free solution though. |
