has anybody tried to put a 64-66 on a mid 70s 4x4 frame? i have a 64 with a bent frame and a 75 4x4 with a bad body and would love to make the 64 4x4 with a lift.

I know that the cab mounts are different. Would have to take our cab mounts off the 64 frame and put them on the 75 frame. Other than that I have no clue.

i have seen a few 60s trucks on the 70s 4x4 frames but i never really looked at how they were bolted on the frame.

Here's my old one. I didn't do the swap but I know the people who did. If I am not mistaken the bed is just about a bolt on. Of course the wheelbase is shorter on the older trucks so there will be a little bit bigger gap between the bed and cab (not really noticeable). I don't think you have to use the mounts from the old truck but the ones on the newer one will have to be moved. The newer trucks have a sidesaddle gas tank and the rear cab mount is on the inside of the frame (makes room for the tank). Your old truck has it's mounts on the outside of the frame. You can take the mount from the inside and move it to the outside to fit the old cab. The frame of the newer truck also drops down toward the front. Most of the trucks I have seen use a body lift spacer at the core support to make up for the bend. I am sure that there is more to it than this but a lot of people have done it and I think they look sharp.

thanks for the information , both of my trucks are longbeds and i did a quick measurement and the 64 wheelbase is about 2 inches less than the 75. i am just kicking around ideas right now. i have not decided to 4x4 the 64 or just put my disc brake front end on it and leave it 2wd.
