After having issues with Netzero Hi-speed , I ran their connection wizard and it says this --

Issues:

1) "Lucent Win Modem" is possibly incorrect driver.

Resolves:

YOU MAY BE USING THE WRONG MODEM SOFTWARE
__________________________________________________

The modem driver software you currently have installed for your modem may work, but it may not be the most ideal driver software for your modem.

Please install a modem driver specifically written for your modem. You can find this driver software on the CD or diskette that came with your modem, or by visiting your modem manufacturer's Web site and downloading the appropriate driver for your modem. If your modem was included in your PC when you purchased it, you may also be able to contact your computer manufacturer for updated modem driver software.

What is the correct change to make here if any changes are really needed or should I just leave it alone ? Thanks .

You would need to get the most recent software that is made for your modem. If you have a pre-compiled system and the modem came with it (aka Dell, Gateway or other major name brand), this software can be downloaded from their website (gimme the brand and model # of the computer and I'll find the software for you).

Otherwise, I'll need you to crack open the computer, look at the modem and either gimme a picture with clear numbers that are shwoing on the largest processor chip on the modem or at least type out all of those numbers.

Hi Shifty , hope the trip to Miami went well , it sounded like an enjoyable weekend . It has been ages since I have visited Miami and would not know the city anymore .

I have 2 computers , both Hewlett Packards

(1) Compaq Presario S3010CL - " this is the one with the warning "

(2) Compaq Presario SR1710NX --- brand new , but I suspect is probably set up the same way .

Thanks.

For the #1 computer above, please go here: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?dlc=en&tool=softwareCategory&lc=en&sw_lang=8&product=311371&cc=us&os=228

That is a list of all drivers for that computer. It will have all of them for sound and other crap. Download the modem one and any others you wanna install and if there are "hotfixes" or "patches" for your system, grab and install those as well.

basically, each download will be an ".exe" file. You will download it to somewhere safe, run it and do one of two things:

A) It will extract several files into a folder for you to run OR install. In this case, look for a "install.txt" or "readme.txt" or some other text file for instructions.

B) It will extract and auto-install.

If you need further help, let me know. I doubt the #2 computer above is the same way.
