Suckers are HEAVY! extd56 02-14-2007, 11:29 AM When I towed the crewcab home it barely fit with the rear wheels just on the trailer and the bed hanging out over the trailer. Hart_Rod 02-14-2007, 11:38 AM Worst part about pulling it was that the rear had no shocks (the mounts were broken). Once it started bouncing, it was like a bucking bronco errhh I mean bucking donkey:). We had to improvise and tied cargo straps around the axle and frame, :D. Like I can't find one anywhere and I didn't know if they all were custom home built or what...if anyone has one for sale or would be willing to trade it let me know classicchev 09-01-2007, 12:10 PM Only way to get one is to build it. They did make crew cabs, 3 door and NOTHING like what Rokcrln and Extd56 have done. I think if somebody started making these, they would sell tons, I would buy one. I dont know if this one is still for sale, and whatever the asking price is its worth every penny. Rokcrln 09-01-2007, 12:11 PM Their were some built by coach companys but not alot and the ones that were don't look right to me. This one was built out of a 3 door burb with alot of extra work to get a working 4th door and a factory look to the truck. Any more proggress?? extd56 11-13-2007, 06:08 PM Well I have decided to get rid of the 350/350 and 205 transfer case and go to a 454 with a 4l80e and a 241 transfer case. I think I can thank my friends for this as they like to see me spend money and have been trying to get me to use this combo for about a year. I hope this combo will fit without too much fuss but I am sure it will include using a welder to help make it fit. I will be using a 1991 454 with the TBI and the 4l80E out of a 1991 Suburban. I had this combo for sale but now I will be using it as no one wanted to buy it, can't blame them with the price of gas. chris@bigjranch.com 11-13-2007, 06:53 PM I've been waiting to see something hapen with this thread. It's gonna be awesome. Good luck, your doing a great job! MrBeast 02-12-2008, 10:30 PM Ok the rear rocker and cab corner will be ready to go back in once this stuff dries. I finished trimming everything away back to good (well better) metal and than coated the sh!t out of everything with a rust inhibitor product I am trying out. I even got way up in side the rear cab suport with this stuff. It is suposed to convert rust into a none rust somthing or other. You can weld right over it or paint over it as well. It goes on like Elmers glue but dries to a black finish. Thursday I should have the B pillar finished and start getting the 3rd rocker and corner in place. While I am doing the corner and rocker I think I will tweak things abit to get the door to fit right at the bottom. I don't know what it is but almost every Burb that I have seen has the same problem as this one does. The bottom rear of the door below the body line sticks out past the door jamb just a bit. This one was worse than most so now is the time to correct that. Also I had to cut the bottom of the B pillar open inside the rocker in order to get out all the durt and rust that has bult up over the years. It was packed solid and I had to jab and pry some of it out but it is now nice and clean. Kevin LFD Inc. Kevin, I used to be the Ships Welder on the USS Lexington, (does that mean im a military grade body man? lol) We used the heck out of that prouduct that your using there all over the ship, it is damn good stuff, and I tell you this much, if it will hold its own on a giant hunk of metal sitting in salt water, it should do a mighty fine job on your crew cab. Also on a personal note, I joined the site a couple of days ago, and as I mentioned before, I am a welder by trade, that being said, I am very impressed with your work, you really have your act togeather and know what you are doing. You dont meet too many people who can do what you are. To say the least I am impressed. - Nick 72cheyennesuper20 02-23-2008, 10:19 AM I have not ruled that out yet, its not in paint yet. :smoke: Dont cut the bed down, Its perfect as-is. VROD383 03-01-2008, 12:02 AM This is one sick project. Going with the four doors is the way to go. Cut the bed!!!! If you don't this still going to be a good looking truck. 72CREWCAB 03-18-2008, 10:42 AM We need updates!!!!:whine: Rokcrln 04-03-2008, 07:38 AM Well it went for blasting then some how showed up back at my place for a few finishing touches. I will be filling holes in the doors, floor, doors and a few dash mods. I will also be pulling a few dents and patching some more rust spots that showed up after blasting above the pass front door in the jamb. Here are a few pics. I still say this thing needs to be about 2feet shorter;) Also I will be installing a gas door. http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b20/rokcrln/tahoe47.jpg http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b20/rokcrln/tahoe48.jpg http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b20/rokcrln/tahoe49.jpg http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b20/rokcrln/tahoe50.jpg Kevin LFD Inc. jrdv 04-03-2008, 07:55 AM You make me jealous!!!!! Rick I was using my 1/2 ton Avalanche but it is a little bit to o much for it some time. I am using a 16 foot trailer that the truck barely sits on with the rear fo the bed hanging over the end of the trailer. The rear axle just barely makes it on the trailer. I have been using a buddy's 1 ton extd cab lately which helps a lot. Without the engine and trans and no front end on it the front is a little bit light and I get soem sway from the trailer from so much weight on the rear. I guess I should have bought a longer trailer but hopefully I will not be towing it too much for awhile. Hart_Rod 04-13-2008, 07:29 PM The Crew looks great! What color are you going to paint this one? R/ extd56 04-24-2008, 09:12 PM The color is probably going to be medium blue with a white top.
