Hi,

I am wiring up my 67 chevy truck, and there are two brown wires coming from the ignition switch, does anyone now exactly what these wires are?
Do they provide switch power to the fuse box?

Take a look at the sticky listed at the top of the "Electrical" forum.

It has the wiring diagrams in color. There should be 2 brn wires at the switch. One has a wht tracer. One is 12 gage and one is 14 gage. Good luck.

that does not indicate what the brown wire does.

In my switch, I have two 12brn wires coming from it, while the diagram only shows one wire. (Meaning that I have two brown wires coming out of the connection where the wireing diagram only shows one brown wire).

In the diagram, the one brown wire goes to the fuse box, and appears to be a + distrubution for three fuses.

John, when I look at that diagramn it looks like two browns come off the same terminal, one of those brown's has a white stripe. That one goes to the bulkhead connector. Do you have two browns plus the brown with the whire stripe?

Hi 71swb4x4,

Yes, I have the brown with white stripe wire (which is power for ACC as it is labled ACC on ignition switch), and I also have two brown wires (labled S2 on ignition switch), and the brown wires are coming out of the single brown wire location indicated in the wire diagram...

UPDATE, after tearing apart an old wiring harness, the two brown wires are for the brake light on the dash, and the brake switch on the proportioning valve...

one wire goes to the #2 terminal on the instrument cluster plug, the other wire goes to the junction box thru the firewall to the switch on the prop valve...

Finshed wiring the ignition switch, onto wiring up the instrument cluster...

I wouldn't be so certain. These trucks were built for 6 years, there is a chance that one wiring diagramn won't be 100% correct for all of these trucks. Not to mention humans were building them, very possible to have things that weren't necessarily the way they were supposed to be.

Guess I should have clarified....is should be TAN w/WHT....not that it actually is on his truck.
