I just got in a bunch of parts for the 54 Chevy panel. One of the items was a roll fender welt. The material appears to be a form of vinyl cover cloth. There's some form of tubing that the cloth is wrapped around for the outside edge.
My question is: Should this be a cloth type material? Seems kinda cheesy.

I don’t think I like it. I had expected it to be a rubber material. I’m thinking about sending it back and coating the edges with bed liner to make sure there’s no rubbing.

Thoughts? Experiences?

I did both! I did read somewhere that the VW fender welting was better, I read this AFTER I had mine installed. FWIW on the leading edge of the front fender at the cowl take the welting and staple it back on itself 180* so you do not see the raw edge of the piping in the welting.

Just read a cool article:

Haven't been to their site before. I'll be reading through their articles tonight. I might learn something else!

Thanks!

I didn't use any on my truck. Haven't had any problems yet.
