Im thinking about buying a 67 suburban, but when i opened the back doors the floor was made of plywood. Is this normal or were they all made of metal.
If so should I be concerned about what else the previous owner might have done

my 72 has a wood floor. All 67-72 suburbans were wood floor. the metal floors were started in 73.

I guess i never realized that. i would have figured theyd been using sheet metal by that point. were they all plywood or did thy use slats or anything like that?

All black painted ply. I'm going to lay down some sheet metal and put a bed wood kit over that.

if you are worried about it you can always find a truck with a nice steel bed floor and cut it out and weld it in, but the wood in my 68 is still in great shape and has held up to tons of cargo at a time with no problems, put some astro turf down over it and rock on

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the panel trucks had wood slats and metal strips similar to the trucks.

I have seen a 68 2 door panel suburban with the wood slats and metal strips like the truck beds.

The panels had the same plywood floor as the suburbans, only longer up front. They did have metal wear strips bolted on them to help cargo slide in and out.

I bought a 69 panel back in 73. It had the boards or slats with metal runners like a pickup but they went all the way to where the drop down for the seat was.
