the question is,can i replace this cluster in my 80 Jimmy with a cluster with gauges from and 87 Diesel and keep the origanal speedometer. Was wondering whether i could just plug into the jimmy wiring harness,without burnin' it up.

I think the speedos will swap (90% sure), but I've not tried that exact swap. The ele cluster plugs should be different. You will need a wiring diagram from both years to see exactly what needs changing.
