IMO, once you go multiple it's dam near impossible to go back. I have 3 Viewsonic VP191B 19" LCD displays on my home system and it is awesome. However, my laptop at work only allows me to add one additional monitor. The only solution I have found is the sidecar express (http://www.digitaltigers.com/sidecar.shtml)from digital tigers--you can add 2-4 monitors to a laptop but the $1500 price tag is too steep for me. Anyone know of another way to use the laptop display and two external monitors-(where each display has a different active wondow)?
Thanks

This is not quite what you are looking for, but it is considerably cheaper:

Actually, the more I look at thi the more I think it might work. What I want is to keep MS Outlook open on one screen, SAP (my primary use application) open on one and a third screen for various things--Excel, Access, IE, etc. Think this wil do it?

Assuming the video card on your laptop will support it :)

Please report back your findings. I'm really curious, might want to get it for myself for here in the office or in my computer room in the basement @ home.

We use those at work, but instead of an extra monitor, it pulgs into our smart boards. The seem to work pretty well. The software for the smartboard though takes away some of the fun aspects of using it for two monitors. I have one classroom with dual smartboards, plus the montior. It works nice as long as you don't expect snappy video/graphucs speeds. Like shoft said, the one video card can easily be overwelmed by the multiple monitor thing.

Very nice, thanks. I just got my dualhead today and will be setting it up on Saturday and will post my results. If it works well I may opt for the triple when it becomes available.. . .

Well, it works but as advertised. My initial impression is that this is only an 'okay' method to obtain additional desktop space. The reason I say this is that even though I have two external monitors (each with independent screens) Windows recognizes them as one display with a 2560x1024 resolution. This means I am limited on monitor placement. I have to keep both lcds together with the laptop off to either side--I would prefer to have the laptop in the middle and a monitor on each side. Also, in certain applications (SAP, Excel, Word) if you maximize over all or 2 screens you lose the title bar for some reason. Also, I use a program called Ultramon that allows me to have a independent task bar and wallpaper for each play but since the additional two monitors are recognized as one the taskbar is extended across both monitors. The sidecar express would be a 'better' solution as each monitor is recognized independently but the cost is simply too much for me. Basically it does what it says it will and it will be an acceptable solution what I need here at work. If you have any questions just let me know.
