I'm sure it's me not the computer but things are not working the way I'd hoped. There is a setting that allows you to get outside help and if and when you have time I need some. The monitor that came with it died 27 days after I got it. 3 days of dealing with customer support (both land line and on line with old computer never got anyone that could speak English well enough that I could understand it) ended up with a refurbished monitor. That kind of put a bad taste in my mouth about how I will be treated but.... Now I think a lot of it is not knowing how to set firewall and other options that are my main problems and that's where you come in. Also I made a problem with Kodak Easy Share by running a update and not waiting long enough before restarting it. (When it prompted to restart I did but large picture file was not completed) Now I get a error code every time I start up my computer. So if you can help it would be great. You can email or PM me when you can get to it or not. My email is ronaldnaomi@bellsouth.net if you want to go that route. Thanks for all the help already.

Well here's proof positive, I tried to go back and edit the post that it was for shifty and ended up with 2 wrong posts. Mod please delete one and I'll quit before I screw something else up.

Please list the error code you are getting. I need a verbatim, word for word message.

We'll get started by troubleshooting that problem, then we'll tackle the others. I would prefer to keep this post here in the forum rather than PM or email - just because someone else may be in a very similar situation to you and find the information we type in here very useful to learn from or use.

Thanks for the reply. this is word for word. Runner file name (Kodak Soft Ware Updater.exe) lacks a '-' (the app id separator) When I try to install my Kodak software now it won't because I can't get rid of this error. Like I said in my first post If you can take the time I'll let you nose around in this thing and strighten out my mess. If I keep working on it it might have a very short life. Thanks

I tend to agree. Sorry, I haven't had time to do any research on this one as of yet. I would give what Truckdude is saying a try.

As for me, I need some more information. Can you tell me what make/model your computer is? This information is usually on the front of the computer. This will help me to find the website where you download the software and other support items that go with it.

It is a Dell Dimension E310. It is the one you hooked me up on a deal like you found for your g/f dad or something like that. Any way it has the invite a friend setting so you can be me from your house. To jog your memory I'm the old guy that had a 99 model h/p with windows 98 that stumbled in here about middle of Jan. I don't have any computer skills or knowledge so all this firewalls, and other modern stuff is like handing a hand grenade to a 2 year old. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Truckdude, thanks I have did that and it didn't seem to help. I'm not saying that I did it correctly but I uninstalled the program and got the error code when I tried to install from disk.
