I am finally gonna take my truck to a good meet this year. I'm my own worst enemy feeling my truck isnt good enough to put in a show. After I see some of the stuff displayed at meets ,even the 2 GoodGuys shows I've been to, I have booked the hotel and sent my registration in for the 2006 Red Deer Super Run on August 4th & 5th.. Anyone else planning on going? I've attached a link to the site with info for the show..

My nephew lives in Red Deer and keeps bugging me to visit (actually to move there) him, so maybe that would be a good time to go. I have seen the local cars/trucks (around our area) so many times it will be neat to see something different. Do you know if there will be a swap meet there as well?

I would think so Dalton. Did you get to the Super Run in Saskatoon last Auygust? I was there and don't remember seeing a swap meet but then i wasnt looking for one. Red Deer is great town and a nice drive from here.

I don't think they have a swap meet. they didn't last time, but the cruise night down town is great.

Change of topic, Our club, Closenuff Car Club, is entering in the Draggins show on the easter weekend, I'm bringing my beast and we have a 55 chev car that's been a 6yr frame off mild custom. A 55 chev truck with a 355 and mustang II front suspension and a 36 dodge street rod.

NOBODY has the right to pick apart someone elses ride!!! Your ride is the reflection of you. You built it or maintain your truck to your satisfaction, NOT THEIRS!! It really chaps my butt when i'm at a show and some wannabe starts beeking about how your door panels or hood is out 1/32 of and inch. Or that the paint doesn't suit them. I love asking them to show me their creation and how i must see it so i can learn from the perfect builder of such a flawless vehicle!!!

SORRY, I'll get off my soapbox now.Any of you who have met me know that i'm pumped up about our trucks. I don't care what you drive or what it looks like. You are out here enjoying the hobby and meeting great friends that most of us will have for life.

I am hoping to go to the Saturday Show and Shine in Red Deer this year, but I don't think I can commit to the whole weekend.

The Friday night cruise is great in Red Deer.

This is starting to sound like a good place to meet some people.
Maybe we should start posting pictures of trucks so we know what to look for.
Hopefully, the old lady and I can find a campground and bring both of these.
Showed her the picture of the pink truck and she wants to see it too.

I'll be driving one of these two rigs:

First is my current DD, a 1977 half ton short step. By August it will likely be in primer, and will have a 74 front clip on it.

Second is my project truck. If I get it done in time, I'll take it instead. It will look much like it does in this pic, cept it is now a 3/4 ton 4x4 with 1 ton springs (very mild 1 - 2" lift), and will probally be in grey primer.

Thanks Radman.. I did say I am my own worst enemy when it comes to my truck. Noone has made any derogatory comments about my truck ,in fact I've had lots of thumbs up and positive comments about her. Some guys have a problem with the pink color but that is what attracted me to the truck in the first place. I also like the oranges and yellows too. If we were all the same the world would be a pretty dull place.

Russell you dont have to register to visit. If you are planning to stay overnight I suggest booking a room now though. There will most likely be an admission fee of 5 or 6 bucks a day to get in as a spectator.. Is Androssan close to Red Deer?

I'm about 2 and a half hours north of Red Deer on Highway 2.

I'd probally come down early for the day, then head home that night, or just camp out in the Wal Mart parking lot or something :P

I would like to go but we are hosting a family reunion that weekend hmmm wonder if we can sneak awy for a couple hours

probably leaving here wed after work then making it to Med hat, stay overnight. Most are meeting up there thursday morning then heading up. This gets you there thurs pm. give you a chance to unwind,clean truck,drink some wobbily pops. Usually everyone starts showing up on friday around dinner time and i like checking everyone out when they come in.

Booked my room and I'll be in Red Deer on the Thursday stayin till Sunday and the blazer's coming.

we usally end up in a search party at least once a yr looking for lost kids who have fallen in one or more little craters!!!

The $500 long distance award sure seems to bring people from a long way away. 3 years ago I was not even close, maybe not even in the top ten for long distance.

I made reservations for Friday & Saturday nights at the Days Inn, Red Deer Lodge and Sandman Inn which is the Host Hotel for the meet. I've decided to stay at the Days Inn so if anyone needs a room and is having trouble booking one maybe I can give one of the reservations I wont be using to somone that needs it. PM me if interested and we will see if thjis can be done. If I do no hear from anyone by July 10th I'll call the hotels and cancel he reservations.

Looks like I will be driving down for the day, then driving home that same night -- Hotel rooms are waayyy too expensive, and I don't know of any camp grounds in the area. Only a 2 hour drive anyways, so I'm not too concerned :)

Hopefully I'll be bringing the GMC down for the trip yet, but I am still not 100% sure I'll have it roadworthy by then.

Well 2 days till Super Run and I'm gettin anxious. I've been doing little things to my truck and still have few more to do. The Friday Night Cruise should be fun and Red Deer is used to Car Shows and Cruising.. I'm looking forward to meeting you fellow board members and seeing your rides..
