View Full Version : The Official "is Ohio going to meet this summer" post
pebbleboy 03-16-2006, 09:59 PM Centerburg Ohio Sept 4 is the only suggestion i got so far?
This good for everyone?
If not what show or where would you want to meet?
I want to get some kind of planning together.
Longhorn Man 04-22-2006, 05:59 PM we gotta do something... last summer sucked with no meet.
Alvin 04-23-2006, 10:13 PM Hrmm.. that's a little over a 2hr drive for me, but I'd be game for it. Now let's see if I can drive the '68 there. *yeah right*
Longhorn Man 04-23-2006, 10:39 PM pebbleboy, you holding it this year...or am I reading into it too much?
oscareltemblo 04-23-2006, 11:04 PM where ??
pebbleboy 04-25-2006, 07:12 PM pebbleboy, you holding it this year...or am I reading into it too much?
If I buy a house where I can have everyone over I WILL HOLD IT :metal:
My place is way to small right now :(
Longhorn Man 05-02-2006, 05:32 AM how about something on the lake? is there a place you know of that is free/minimal charge that we could set up in, perferably with lots of shade and plenty of room? (kinda important...a place where a dozen loud ass trucks wouldn't tick everyone off and have call the law?)
big blue 72 05-05-2006, 10:02 AM i know that Big Blue would love to see the road again. last time only problem i had was a broken throttle return spring but was able to bend enough offwhat was left to get back home.
Should be a few of us from Cincy area .
Rob, Adam etc.
Misled 05-05-2006, 11:58 PM What was the agenda for the last get together, was it a one day event, , cookout, working on the trucks, etc.........
It there a link to the "report" from the last one with pics?!?!?!
I know, I'm a nib****!!!
Longhorn Man 05-07-2006, 04:38 PM Here is a thread right after the ohio meet of '04. Lots of pics lost in the forum's upgrade.
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/showthread.php?t=119348
I can't find the link for the first ohio meet... it was also at fine69's place, in the summer of 03. It was bigger and better than '04's meet.
just hang out and BS with each other. depending on the host, and the location, some work can be done to each other's trucks, parts swapping ... just general good time with like minded ppl.
Both ohio meets I spent all day there.
I had a mini-me ohio meet here, just one member on a road trip heading through, stopped to BS, eat, and drop off parts for another member, who was here to recieve them at the same time.... the 3 of us hung out for 3 or 4 hrs.... another good time.
It's hard to beet meeting board members...esp wwhen there's a bunch at once.
Ron 586 05-10-2006, 11:21 AM Hey Longhorn Man. Pardon the interruption. In almost 4 months you have 9 replies and 4 are from you on this thread. When I was trucking thru Ohio I would see more trucks, bikes, or hot rods parked in diner parking lots than this. So if this don't get off the ground (or you want to make a road trip) I am going to have a get together at my place and you are invited. It will be a Saturday affair this summer and when I have a firm date I'll let you know. I'll even put you up for the night and send you off with a good breakfast Sunday. This is a offer and I won't be offended if you can't make it. Hope to see you this summer.
Longhorn Man 05-10-2006, 02:50 PM well Ron, I'll await the details. We'll see what's going on by then. my truck may or may not be up for a trip of that calaber by then. (not to mention fuel fundage)
Ron 586 05-10-2006, 09:45 PM No problem. I'm fighting a few health issues myself but until they plant me I'm going to be positive and plan on living. Will be in touch.
MylilBowTie 05-14-2006, 11:44 PM I wouldnt mind going if there is one this year.
LonghornJeff 05-17-2006, 06:00 AM Hmmm I think I might be up for another Ohio meet.
I never miss a chance to make a fool of myself.
p.s. pass the wings...
I call Andys couch!....;)
Longhorn Man 05-17-2006, 06:06 PM dude.... I don't have one.
Although, by then I might
Ron 586 05-19-2006, 05:16 AM well Ron, I'll await the details. We'll see what's going on by then. my truck may or may not be up for a trip of that calaber by then. (not to mention fuel fundage)
The date of my cookout is July 22, 2006. If it costs to much to drive Longhorn drive whatever will get you here. As I said before if it's to costly or can't fit in your schedule that's OK. Thanks
Longhorn Man 05-20-2006, 06:24 AM Sweet... I'll see what I can do.
OhioDan 05-20-2006, 07:25 AM There might be a possibility that I could rent the shelterhouse at my American Legion post in New Carlisle? They have 20'X50' shelter, 10 horseshoe pits, 3'X15' bar-b-que pit, paved parking, or park in the grass (about 1-2 acres) for "show"? Not sure about any "heavy" wrenching, but minor stuff would probably be okay? Restrooms are available. Will find out cost and definite "legion" rules and resrictions for this to happen. Get back to ya asap.
:flag: :gmc: :burnout:
Longhorn Man 06-23-2006, 10:47 PM anyone... anything?
MylilBowTie 06-23-2006, 10:50 PM Yeah it would be nice to make one this year.
OhioDan 06-24-2006, 04:19 PM Finally! Heard from the American Legion. As of this time, it's a no go for their shelter house. New officers and they're scared of letting something like that happen. Tried to talk them into a Friday, Saturday, Sunday. That was a definite no. Tried Saturday and Sunday, that was a no go. Tried Saturday or Sunday, and that was a no go. Sheesh, can't believe it. Ah well, still checking around. Maybe the local Amvets Post? I'll check and see. Get back to ya'll when I hear anything.
:flag: :gmc: :burnout:
Longhorn Man 07-03-2006, 03:51 PM that sucks.
Bump
Ron 586 07-03-2006, 08:13 PM I'm sorry to hear that you have the same problems in Ohio that we do here in Tennessee. Car club, truck club, or motorcycle club, and they get nervous. Afraid it will mess up their image. So here's a new plan, you guys get together and rent a 15 passenger van or what ever size will haul the number of people that wants to come and come on down. Just leave Friday night so you can get here by 10am to noon and hang out and meet people and eat and have a good time. Leave Sat. night in time to take the kids to church Sunday morning and that will keep the good woman off your butt. So what this means is it is an open invitation to all the good folks from Ohio to come on down and enjoy some southern hospitality. The date of my cookout is July 22 2006. Whatcha think.
Longhorn Man 07-06-2006, 10:31 PM Ron... I know you invited me earlier, and I won't be able to do it. Trying to make sure I have plenty of money for my next trip out west next month.
Ron 586 07-07-2006, 12:03 AM Ron... I know you invited me earlier, and I won't be able to do it. Trying to make sure I have plenty of money for my next trip out west next month.
I can't blame you there. If I had to pick between a cookout with a bunch of hairy legged truck nuts or a snuggle fest out west I'd do the same. You are on my list of people that I want to meet before I kick out so we'll keep working on it. Later.
Longhorn Man 07-07-2006, 07:42 PM heh heh heh... if only I could give details.... :D
Ron 586 07-07-2006, 10:20 PM No need to say another word. I visit the dark side from time to time and read some of the topics for the day. I don't know if I ever posted there but it would be boring compared to what I read. So have a good trip. Later
Longhorn Man 07-07-2006, 10:47 PM :haha:
big blue 72 07-12-2006, 12:18 AM So.... Anybody wanna just meet up at Caesar Creek area or Columbus area sometime in the next 2-3 weeks?
wurksucks 07-12-2006, 04:16 PM :new: I am new here and do not yet have a truck, but I am almost exactly in the center of the state for easy access. I could probably talk the wife into having a get-together if you need a spot. I have 2.5 acres but it is all grass, not much shade...we could also meet at the Alum Creek state park as an informal cook out. There are lots of places around here. I know of a large-ish parking lot where the local grocery went out of business. There is an all-u-can eat chinese buffet, subway, pizza hut, mcd's, wendys, etc... around it. I might be able to get that parking lot if anyone wants me to try. There might be a 'fee' to help pay the rental cost for the day, but I think it could possibly be workable...heck, I could try and make it a show and have some other clubs join up if anyone wants. It is a 5-10K person community that used to be all farmland. Here is a hint (if you drive in any direction, you are bound to find a truck in the weeds somewhere;) )
Ok. One last thought. There is a rather LARGE (~1000 cars) show in Delaware City coming up July 22nd. See link below for pics of last year. Maybe we could try and all park there together and meet up as a club.
Here are pics from last year http://www.jennstratton.com/carstuff/Pictures/2005%20Delaware%20Car%20Show/index1.html
If you want me to work on any of this, lemme know.
chevdanbarnett 07-16-2006, 02:37 PM :metal: hay i am in if you guys find a spot i have a lot of acres up here could put up some tents stuff never know got two lots ones a old farm house and the other is where i live about 130 acres all together would not be no sweet
dan
CougarSE 08-05-2006, 10:56 AM I joined this board for this thread. I live in southeastern Ohio ouside of Logan in Hocking County. I live on 140 acres and would be happy to host a get together. I'll would also like to come to a meet wherever it may be located in Ohio. Either way I would like to see some of your old trucks and get the motivation that only a group of fans can give!
OhioDan 08-11-2006, 01:25 PM Finally heard back from local Amvets Post. It'sa no-go there also. You'd almost think they hated truckers as much as bikers around this fleabag town. Wonder if I told them it'sa bunch of guys on John Deers if they'd let us have a get together? Sorry.
:flag: :gmc: :burnout:
'72 Chevy Suburban 01-06-2007, 05:44 PM So, is there any plan for an Ohio Meet this year? Did you guys get together last year?
Longhorn Man 01-06-2007, 08:11 PM nothing happened last year.
It'd be cool as hell though.
Ron 586 01-07-2007, 01:26 AM All you fine Ohio guys need to load up and come to the big meet in Mo. July 6-8 this year. Boss is letting us use his place (80 acres) in Norwood Mo. to have a get together. It is still in the planning stages and ideas are welcome. It is on my calender in ink and I won't miss this for anything. At least check it out and give it some thought. Longhorn Man with your board hero status a lot of people would no doubt show up just to meet you. So it's your duty to show up for all your fans. Think about it guys.
Longhorn Man 01-07-2007, 01:27 PM LOL... I am planning on trying to go, however, at this point, there's no tellin where I'll be,or what I'll be doing by then. I'm looking over some options, but a few things are keeping me planted here. :(
Ron 586 01-09-2007, 12:14 AM I understand that Ohio may be a distant memory by July. I also understand that a man of your talent can find employment anywhere he wishes to go. I further understand that a fun lovin' man, with your carefree outlook on life, can be happy living in a structured relationship or take them as they come one night at a time lifestyle. All that being said, no matter where you are. No matter who you are working for. No matter if you get married or become a party animal from hell, you are never far from an airport and Springfield Mo. has an airport too. Get you a putt putt and ride out to Norwood to the event. As I said earlier plan everything else around this event and everything else will fall in place. And if it don't fall in place you can blame it all on me.

1968SWBBigBlock 01-30-2007, 07:34 PM Hey - I just stumbled onto this thread like stepping on a cat in the middle of the night.
I am game to go to a get together.
Jack Maxton Chevy in Columbus has once a month Friday night cruise ins. It is free to register and they give awards to the top 70 rides. Chevy only!
We also have the Goodguys in town I think the 1st weekend in July. That always proves to be a great time.
Longhorn Man 01-30-2007, 07:44 PM hmmmm, where abouts are you?
ProStreet68SB 01-31-2007, 04:46 PM hmmmm, where abouts are you?

Longhorn Man 02-25-2007, 08:00 PM He's been to ohio twice for board meets, and one other time to haul my worthless ass almost all the way to Philly to get my one ton and drag it back here.
Helluva guy.
MylilBowTie 02-25-2007, 10:31 PM We need some wings Jeff !!!!
Alvin 02-26-2007, 11:20 AM Ok guys, I'm game for a meet too.
Just please don't do it in July. I've got every weekend in July booked. I'm "planning" on having my truck driveable sometime in June. So June or anytime after July works for me... although August will be pretty hot.
Yell'r69 03-18-2007, 05:17 PM I'll help to keep this thread going. I'm up for a get together by the end of May.
cory321 04-04-2007, 06:35 PM I'm up for a get together.
71SWBChevy 04-05-2007, 09:00 PM I am going to watch this thing guys, if it hits a weekend that I am off may try and make the trek up to meet a few new board members, haven't ever went north to meet anybody, always seems I am heading south
dwaite72lnghrn 04-08-2007, 11:35 AM Andy, You just have to make sure Jeff has enough "diluted" vodka.
Peter82 08-08-2007, 02:10 PM well its Aug 8th and i have heard anything about a meet yet. Any word??? well i am down in Dayton if anyone wants to meet on the way to where ever so we can have a truck show down the freeway.
Ron 586 08-09-2007, 09:09 PM This thread was started on 3/16/2006 and we are still talking about it. It's good to know that you don't just rush into things but something has to happen quick or it will be another year in the books. Somebody pick a date and see what happens.
Goodie 08-17-2007, 09:33 AM Hey guys I'm down here in Dayton.. it quite a few places around here that we could meet... we have quaker steak and lube that hold cruise ins every week... it would be nice to get some of these truck together this way... give me a shout

karlde 09-05-2007, 09:25 PM I have been monitoring this thread with interest. I'm a Buckeye living in the Lone Star state. We are planning a move back to southern Ohio (Wilmington) sometime in October and at the rate you guys are going, I might be able to make it.
I have been to a Quaker Steak & Lube in the Fairfield Commons area.

ha ha... at this rate i think we will all have our truck done the way we want before we meet up. i know for sure there is a classis car/ truck meeting in Bevercreek across from the Green Mall every Friday at like 6pm - 9pm. for you that dont know where that is its off 675. the same exit as the kettering rec-center. the meeting is in the parking lot of the Big K-mart. maybe i'll see you guys there.
the Quaker Steak & Lube across the street for Wright State U would be a great place. i could go up there and speek to the manager about a day and time for us all to meet up if any one wants. i am up there all the time.
