I have 1970 chevy K10 4x4 with small block 400, Th350, 205 TRNS case, 12 bolt rear end. I want to put A 700r4 in the truck, so what i wanted to know is how much did you have to move the crossmember fowerd, and how much did you have to shorten the drive shaft, also did you have to lengthen the front drive shaft at all???? I alredy have the transmission and the adaptor. Is there anything els i need? Thanks for the Help James

If you leave the tranny in the stock location, you should not have to do anything to the driveshafts. the other benefit by leaving the tranny in its original place, is the 700r4 is longer than the th350 so it pushes the motor away from the firewall for added clearance for a HEI distributor. You will have to move the motor crossmember foward though. If you have the advanced adapter output shaft, you may run into a clearance issue with the tranny pan, depending on what type of foward output shaft you have on the 205.

So if i move the motor forward and bolt the transfercase back in the stock mount, about how much do you think i will have to move the motor forward?

Roughly 1.5". I am almost to that point. I am building the tranny now. I will bolt the tranny down to the crossmember and bolt the motor to its crossmember loose and redrill where it ends up. Something to consider is if you are running a clutch fan or electric fans. I have electric and I think it gives a little more room up front.
