View Full Version : I need direction/ motivation for my next project

On my last two trucks, I've had photoshops done first, so I could see how my ideas would look. I print the pictures out and hang them on my shop wall. It really helps keep me focused through the long hours, and it gives me confidence that the final package will "work". I've found it to be absolutely the best directional compass when doing a project.

Now, next project is underway. I'd sure appreciate anyone's efforts at doing me a picture. I promise, I'll print them out and use them as a guide, and you'll be able to see the actual project unfold in the following months with buildup pictures posted here on the board.

Could you please do it up with 15 inch painted steel wheels with thin whitewall tires? I don't have a firm wheel color, probably red though, with chrome bullet lug nuts

Keep the stance low and level

Red Oxide primer on the main body with white top, from bottom of the windows up.

A white colored shop logo on the door (Zumo, if you're reading this, you know what I'm doing here)

Basically, I'm going after this vibe. Low, level, thin whitewalls, two toned. I want my white top to extend down to the beltline though. I'm poor though, so painted wheels are my deal. I will do the white grille and bumpers too.

Guys, I know it's a lot of work that I'm asking for here, but I will use it to guide my buildup.

Longhair, thank you very much for the picture.

I may rethink the plan though. That doesn't really pop like I wanted it to. Anyone have any suggestions, besides flat black?

I'm really torn now. Nothing is really peaking my intrest.

I'm open to any suggestions that ya'll have.

I'm thinking I may be able to squeeze a set of budget wheels into the deal now. Maybe Astro Supremes or chrome reverse like the truck I pictured above.

I definitely want to run the thin whites and flat stance like early 60's style.

Sorry Zumo, it's all apart now, and that's my only intact 'before' picture.

CG, that's the first picture of the truck that I really get excited about. I was thinking astro supremes and thin whites.

don't get me wrong, it's VERY cool, i was thinking maybe that was an old hot rod thing i didnt know of... you know, just one of those things they do, just like putting a business name/logo on the side.

I guess got it from a traditional hot rodding. I figure they did it becuase it was just all they had or what was available. That's what hot rodding was about way back when. So my idea was to carry it over on to this burb.

I got to pick up an extra 24 hour overtime shift, so I have money to get a set of wheels. I'm thinking chrome reverse. I keep reading that Astros aren't for stuff as heavy as this Suburban is. They crack when overloaded.

Zumo, thatnks for the HAMB post too.

Andy, one of the reasons for different wheels front to rear was they were running slicks in the rear like the car in the pic. Usually the street tires were mounted on mags, and the racing slicks were mounted on something strong and cheap.

Before I ever saw your pics I was thinking the white top did not need to extend all the way down to pull off the look Tex is after. I'm not a big fan of scallops, but they are making a big come back. I think it would look killer with white scallops that surround the shop logo. Tex, go with painted rims, chrome spiders and lug nuts. Use the money you saved on the rims to get the side pipes. Those are bitchin....:metal:

Tex,

go chrome reverse. Stockton wheel Milner Style #32. That's the the way they were back in the day. I was there! I have them ordered for my '67. Hope to have by the end of the month. I'm running wide whites. I know, I'm rewriting history a little. But all those guys with flat black rods and tats stem to stern are rewriting it much worse.
