View Full Version : I need direction/ motivation for my next project
Tx Firefighter 03-26-2006, 01:45 PM On my last two trucks, I've had photoshops done first, so I could see how my ideas would look. I print the pictures out and hang them on my shop wall. It really helps keep me focused through the long hours, and it gives me confidence that the final package will "work". I've found it to be absolutely the best directional compass when doing a project.
Now, next project is underway. I'd sure appreciate anyone's efforts at doing me a picture. I promise, I'll print them out and use them as a guide, and you'll be able to see the actual project unfold in the following months with buildup pictures posted here on the board.
Could you please do it up with 15 inch painted steel wheels with thin whitewall tires? I don't have a firm wheel color, probably red though, with chrome bullet lug nuts
Keep the stance low and level
Red Oxide primer on the main body with white top, from bottom of the windows up.
A white colored shop logo on the door (Zumo, if you're reading this, you know what I'm doing here)
Basically, I'm going after this vibe. Low, level, thin whitewalls, two toned. I want my white top to extend down to the beltline though. I'm poor though, so painted wheels are my deal. I will do the white grille and bumpers too.

Tx Firefighter 03-26-2006, 01:47 PM Guys, I know it's a lot of work that I'm asking for here, but I will use it to guide my buildup.
bagged74 03-26-2006, 02:44 PM I suck at photoshop, but that burb is gonna be sweet!
C'mon guys I wanna see it too.
LONGHAIR 03-26-2006, 09:18 PM Something like this?
What kind of logo?
Tx Firefighter 03-26-2006, 09:51 PM Longhair, thank you very much for the picture.
I may rethink the plan though. That doesn't really pop like I wanted it to. Anyone have any suggestions, besides flat black?
Primered_69 03-26-2006, 10:24 PM Flat Orange...Maybe some from the Tractor Supply Store
I do. But can't get to it right now. I am in the middle of revamping my site a little. Almost done though. Man, I have having all the ideas always flying around in my head.(not really)
:metal:

darksidepres 03-27-2006, 10:29 AM the paint is for the truck!!!
ratrod67 03-27-2006, 08:53 PM Maybe an idea. Maybe not.
67chevy2wd 03-29-2006, 01:54 AM I kinda like the silver top.
Tx Firefighter 03-29-2006, 02:15 PM I'm really torn now. Nothing is really peaking my intrest.
I'm open to any suggestions that ya'll have.
I'm thinking I may be able to squeeze a set of budget wheels into the deal now. Maybe Astro Supremes or chrome reverse like the truck I pictured above.
I definitely want to run the thin whites and flat stance like early 60's style.
made this before i read the you didnt want black...lol..oh well, need the practice been having mucho trouble with graphic programs on my new puter.
Hey TX do you have a bigger picture of your Burb? Did I already ask that?
dangit andy, i saw you had a new post here and was hoping for something cool... i should check your website, you said you did an update.
Tx Firefighter 04-01-2006, 06:13 AM Sorry Zumo, it's all apart now, and that's my only intact 'before' picture.
CG, that's the first picture of the truck that I really get excited about. I was thinking astro supremes and thin whites.
Sorry I may have gotten a little carried away. :o
Do it.
75Chevy90Kawi 04-01-2006, 09:20 PM those sidepipes and whitewalls look way good... and may i ask, whats the deal with the different wheels in front and back? i've just never seen that before?
It ain't got to be pretty to be cool.

75Chevy90Kawi 04-02-2006, 03:09 AM don't get me wrong, it's VERY cool, i was thinking maybe that was an old hot rod thing i didnt know of... you know, just one of those things they do, just like putting a business name/logo on the side.
I guess got it from a traditional hot rodding. I figure they did it becuase it was just all they had or what was available. That's what hot rodding was about way back when. So my idea was to carry it over on to this burb.
Tx Firefighter 04-02-2006, 02:01 PM I got to pick up an extra 24 hour overtime shift, so I have money to get a set of wheels. I'm thinking chrome reverse. I keep reading that Astros aren't for stuff as heavy as this Suburban is. They crack when overloaded.
Zumo, thatnks for the HAMB post too.
Here is red one, looks candied.
glock35ipsc 04-06-2006, 11:55 PM I kinda dig the green.........
N2TRUX 04-13-2006, 08:37 AM Andy, one of the reasons for different wheels front to rear was they were running slicks in the rear like the car in the pic. Usually the street tires were mounted on mags, and the racing slicks were mounted on something strong and cheap.
Before I ever saw your pics I was thinking the white top did not need to extend all the way down to pull off the look Tex is after. I'm not a big fan of scallops, but they are making a big come back. I think it would look killer with white scallops that surround the shop logo. Tex, go with painted rims, chrome spiders and lug nuts. Use the money you saved on the rims to get the side pipes. Those are bitchin....:metal:
NitroMike 04-14-2006, 10:22 PM Tex,
go chrome reverse. Stockton wheel Milner Style #32. That's the the way they were back in the day. I was there! I have them ordered for my '67. Hope to have by the end of the month. I'm running wide whites. I know, I'm rewriting history a little. But all those guys with flat black rods and tats stem to stern are rewriting it much worse.
Tx Firefighter 04-16-2006, 06:21 AM Here's a peek at what I'm doing....
