I just got some news I might be heading out to Alberta soon. Wanted to see who's all out there. Don't know yet if I'll be taking the truck out there right away or not but if I feel I like my new situation it may just become perminent and I'll have too ;)

Thanks,
Brian

I am protecting the northern border of Alberta.

Less than 1/2 a mile south of my front door is Alberta.

Lots of members here from Alberta, what part are you looking at?

Well like I said above looks like I'll be starting out in Calgary but haven't really been thinking about it too hard until I get out there. Once I'm able to get on my feet that could be another story. I definitely want to explore around when I get there before I settle down if Alberta's gonna be my new home.

But, but but.... We had plans to meet up this summer. I guess that we should put a wiggle on that then shouldn't we. Good luck on your move if and when it happens.

I will drive your truck for you while you are away, just leave it and a Petro Canada fuel card in my driveway.

James,

:but: It hasn't happened yet but yes it could very well happen. Even if I do go I can see myself coming home when I get time off and for things like the Barrie Flea Market. We'll just have to try meeting up then or sumthing. If I go I'll keep in touch of course, and I'll still be around the Board too.

Nice try on the offer to drive my Truck for me tho ;) I'd maybe let you drive it if you restored it for me first

Well I found out exactly where I'll be in two weeks time...OLDS. Apparantly it's about 25 mins south of Red Deer give or take? Looks like I won't be too far from Scott's Super trucks in Penhold so I may have to check that place out once I get on my feet. TTT...

Really? And I could have gone to that one. Is there some place to get info on cruise nights and the like around Alberta? I even missed a show they had at the Olds Golf Course May 24 weekend. Nobody advertises anything unless it's all over and wrote up in the paper. My bad luck I suppose.

Three Hills is one of the biggest one day cruises in Alberta.

Take a look at http://members.shaw.ca/calgarycc/NWCC2006.pdf

Consider making the trip to Red Deer on the August long weekend for Rock'n Red Deer www.rocknreddeer.com

Nice lookin rig Thayer :) I was tempted to take a run down to Calgary and take a look, but decided that the price tag from 4wheeler was a bit too steep, lol

Glad to see it went to someone who is gonna fix it up a bit :D

I'm a little tardy on checking the regional board, but I'm now in High River, and work in Calgary.

Saw a nice 67-72 truck running up 5th ave this afternoon about 4pm. Sounded healthy from my 9th floor office. Orange in color with 2 white stripes down the sides. Anyone here?

Bump for the Alberta boys!

Haven't been around here for a good while since I sold my truck a few years ago. I'm back here lurking and thinking of picking up another for my kids to learn to drive in a couple years.

I just moved south to Lacombe (from Ft. Mac) and frequent the Red Deer downtown cruise on Thursday nights with my '66 Skylark. Maybe I'll run into some of you guys. Looking forward to the Three Hills meet this year - it's supposed to be one of the best around.

Are you working around Olds, Brian? Most of my wifes family is out here working now since the mill closed in Kenora. You will enjoy it out here. I would never move back to Ontario and the rat race, smog, murders........

Yes, I've been working at the Shell Caroline Gas Plant for the past 7 Months. I am starting to enjoy it out here actually, but it could just be that I'm happy to be on my own for the first time too.

Still wish the summers were a bit longer out here but I'll get used to it. Hopefully I can get the Truck out here (or find another one) for this summer. It would be cool to go to some of these shows you guys have been talking about.

I agree I started going to Three Hills in 92 and stopped three years ago because it just wasn't the same. The hotel rates have really gotten out of hand too.
I might make it to street wheelers this year but the blazer won't.

I've seen both gkolmatycki and Chris27 before :D Cool to know they are both board members, cause both trucks caught my eye immediately, and both are gorgeous lookin' rigs!

Heck, Chris27's is the only 69-72 K5 4x4 I've seen on the road in person :D

Three Hills has it's up years and down years. It's probably still one of the biggest gatherings of vehicles in Alberta, especially for a one day event.
To me, it's an excuse to get out of town and enjoy a day with some buddies; the better half isn't much of a car/truck fan. ie red car, green car, that one's pretty.

Hi Guys...personally I think Rock n Red Deer and the Airdrie Fall Classic shows are better than the Two Hills show.

72LoBurb
01-13-2007, 01:38 PM
I was at Rock'n Red Deer, and yes it was a good show, but the cost of entering was ridiculous( I was only there for Saturday, but they still wanted the full price of the 4? day entrance fee), that's why the 'burb sat in the parking lot.
I've never been to the Airdrie show, but would like more info, if possible; I like trying to get to as many shows as I can.

Three Hills has been an annual pilgrimage for me since '91, and I still enjoy going. I still see alot of the same faces and cars from years gone by. I still like it as a get-away.

I guess the Airdrie show is now a summer event -- August. Hotrods and Cool Cars Inc is a big sponsor, check them out at www.hotrods.ca for more info. St Albert is also a good show...over 500 cars. I think the St. Albert show is also in August. Check out www.rocknaugust.com for that one. I included a pic of Rock n August.
