Today I got off work early so stopped by the county tax office to pay the taxes and get the title paperwork rolling on the truck. So after that I stopped by and picked up some oil and filter for the blazer. I went with the $7.99 O'Rilleys special oil change (5 qts. and filter) since I didn't know if it would even get up and going. So I get home and change the oil. It definatley needed it. Not all that bad but it was used. The tranny fluid was pretty red and looked ok but the dipstick is missing I used the one in my truck to check it and looked ok for color and level without having it running. So I got to the wiring issues at the starter. After alot of trial and error and a run to the parts store I got the starter back in and wired up.

It's 8 pm at night in a nice neighborhood and want to try and start it up. Well crank, crank, crank and nothing firing. The lights come on and gauges light up on most but some are burnt out. No biggie but still no fire. I realize I'm out of fuel in the carb since it's out of gas in the bowls. Well a couple splashes later the engine catches and ROAR!! The engine is loud as all get out and with dual pipes off the exhaust manifolds with no mufflers it wakes the neighborhood. Then the truck runs out of gas in the carb. Well I get more in the carb and fires up again. Well this time I realized I better shut it down as loud as it is. So I'm a happy camper here. From what I could tell it sounds like it's defiantely going to be a fun time.

Sweet, Congrats on getting it running. What's you're plans with it?

My list to get it streetable includes rebuild/replace column, replace rear u-joint and connect drivesahft, get rear window working, tune up, clean up the engine, replace any other fluid in tranny, tc, and axles. Also I need shocks (none there now), replace some bulbs, mufflers need added, and some minor stuff. The biggest hurdle I had was to get the engine running and now that I have that I'll be better off.

I guess I better get some mufflers first to keep it quiet around the neighborhood.

Thanks but I don't want a non-tilt. With my size I definately want a tilt.

If you were closer I have a tilt in a '79 Suburban, plus about three from '81-84 Blazers. Not sure on what years work on what but I think the early '80's will go back into the 70's a ways?

The 73-83 will work I think. The wiper changed on the column in 84. I wish you were closer as well :(
