i go to many sites that say i need to install quick time when i try to install quick time i get this error code:- 3 and it willl not install any ideas i downloaded it from quick time webpage i have deleted all quick times i had on here and tried to reinstall it and get the same thing every time

There is something left behind in your registry that uninstall did not remove completely.
This is a download that may or may not help.
This utility may help but I would only remove the references to QuickTime.

The manual way is to delete all references to QuickTime from your registry.
This method would be a last resort as altering you registry can cause other issues.

As obvious as it may sound and not to offed, but do you have rights to install programs on the machine. If you are on XP and just have it set as a normal user and not an administrator, that would give you that could/not allow you to add or modify programs.

The only other thing I can think of is your SPAM filter/firewall may be preventing you from the install. I have not use MacAfee in a long time so I don't know what the settings and controls are in the later versions.

as for your HJT log, it's clean. the ForceWare stuff on your computer is simply related to your NVidia Forceware drivers and it's safe. a quick look at CastlCops site pulled up this:

I don't know why it would run an apache server in the background, but it likely has to do with some kind of local browser interface into your drivers.

my suggestion re: quicktime. download the installer directly? i would use this one:

i know it says iTunes, but it's supposed to be bundled w/Quicktime.

there is only one user acount on the computer and it is the administrator so i know it does have to do with not having permission. disabled mcafee still will not install as for the forceware it was installed with the motherboard software i built the computer
